About this listen

The easiest way to learn about Islam is through the traditions of Mohammed called the Hadith.

The Koran repeatedly commands every Muslim to follow the perfect example of Mohammed’s life, his words and deeds, referred to as the Sunna. The Sunna includes the Hadith (Mohammed’s traditions) and the Sira (Mohammed’s biography).

Since there is not enough information in the Koran for Muslims to practice Islam and understand the doctrine, the easiest way to learn about it is from Mohammed’s traditions. The Hadith gives us fascinating and detailed accounts of his life. We know what Mohammed looked like, his sense of humor, his superstitions, and how he ate. Details about his sex life, family life, and leadership are all recorded.

These Hadith contain all the information that is needed to follow the example of Mohammed as a father, a political ruler, a warrior, and the perfect husband.

The Hadith is a condensed version of the Islamic hadith collections, providing the listener with a taste of Islam. It is concise and authoritative. The reference system allows you to confirm and verify all information with the original source texts.

Tough but true information

Dr. Warner provides some difficult education with this book which is a part of his larger series of learning to understand political Islam.

Some readers may find the very direct and unvarnished reveal of Islam to be unpalatable. Some may even confuse the direct citation of the most authoritative sources within Islam to be somehow offensive.

As I am very familiar with all of the source material, Dr. Warner has not participated in aggrandizement or hyperbole. His take on political Islam is both clear and direct.

This book does not address Muslims whatsoever. It is entirely silent on any merits or flaw of the Muslim population or Muslim individuals.

The book deals solely with the authoritative texts and with political Islam which is derived from those texts. The treatment as objective.

As a result, it will likely have a discomforting effect on a decent person who reads certain sections.

The life of Muhammad is not a G rated film or a golden book story. It is a very violent, sometimes sexual, and difficult story with very harsh and quite extreme lessons.

The education available in this book is both valuable and can even be difficult for people familiar with the text, as I was.

Terrible but informative

I should've known better when "Sunnah" as well as "Muhammad" were misspelled. but it does give me insight on how the world views Islam and it couldn't be further from the truth.

Terrible! Negative! Hater!

Extremely negative tone to the book. All views are one-sided and the tone of the entire book is focussed around the authors point of you. Non-scientific and very arbitrary. I buy an enormous number of books to get knowledge, this author takes the beauty of the Quaran and destimates it.

Detrimental to Islam

This author sets a negative tone and pulls only pieces of scripture that seemingly (out of context) supports his warped view of this religion. If I were someone who burned books, this one would be the first one in the fire.

Essential for an understanding

I really enjoyed that the author is the narrator.
Each book builds on the other to help the non-Muslim get an understanding of what political Islam is.
