About this listen

The Great War of Our Time offers an unprecedented assessment of the CIA while at the forefront of our nation's war against al-Qa'ida and during the most remarkable period in the history of the agency. Called the "Bob Gates of his generation", Michael Morell is a top CIA officer who saw it all - the only person with President Bush on 9/11/01 and with President Obama on 5/1/11, when Usama Bin Laden was brought to justice. Like Ghost Wars, See No Evil, and At the Center of the Storm, The Great War of Our Time is a vivid, newsmaking account of the CIA, a life of secrets, and a war in the shadows.

Great book written by a dedicated professional

It is obvious that Morell just loves the organization that he has worked for 30 years or so and that is to be expected. But what made the book worth listening to was his own internal assments

Superb book

Great book for anyone interested in intelligence or national security. Also superb book for anyone wanting to understanding one of the most critical issues of our time. Morell does a great job of balancing relevant details and critical perspective without getting bogged down. Given his experience and positions across multiple administrations and relationship with multiple presidents and US and world leaders this is a critical read.

History revealed!

Morrell offers the unique perspective of in the moment revelations and clears the debris from excitable mediocrity and news organizations who rush for headlines and ratings. Michaels account of his experience as a lifelong employee of the CIA was eye opening and refreshing. Not that you'll ever read this but a personal Thanks to you, Michael, for having the courage the share a narrative of truth!

Very interesting

The book good some parts are very interesting and tells different views of stories we have all heard, between the news and conspiracy theories and then there is this version which sounds more like the truth.

Current American History Piece

A Thoroughly and completely professional presentation of this important time in our history. Further a great tribute to the CIA and to Mr Morell's great career of service.

Thorough and Captivating

This was an easy book to listen to. Morell is very descriptive and captivating with his writing. My favorite sections were of the Pre & Post 9/11 counter terror efforts, the hunt for Bin Laden and the final chapter where he speaks deeply about the CIA's mission, purpose and the operates and agents who have died in action.
