Couldn't put it down.

The story was captivating. The very long pauses and deep breaths by the narrator were a bit distracting. I will be looking for more of this author's books.

Such a good mystery

The plot was sufficiently good to keep me guessing until right before it was revealed.
I enjoyed it tremendously.
The reading was very nice. The dialects were “close enough”.
I just enjoy a good story that is engaging. Not overly gross. And uses good grammar.

Different

I found the story Interesting. It kept me listening and wondering how it would come together. An enjoyable book.

Very Enjoyable

From start to finish I was hooked. Great story telling of loosely based historical fiction. Ireland, England and Australia bring characters together in an intriguing saga. I was never bored.

Love and respect

Clean fiction is a dying art so when I found this story I was thrilled. Just as delightful as one of Jane Austin’s novels, the girl in the picture takes you on a journey with Michael and Elizabeth, a doting older brother and little sister duo who overcome the odds and find success as Irish Catholic Immigrants to Australia.
The mystery that ensues keeps you wanting more. I loved the ending!
Beautifully recorded as well.

Great character development, great story without graphic sex or violence

Love the history part. Loved the absence of graphic sex or violence. Also liked the different time travel

Loved the characters and historical time line. You can imagine yourself in the footsteps of the characters & setting.

i was interested in the story however the performers taking deep breaths was extremely annoying

Good portrayal of an autistic woman who makes a place for herself

Yes, the book isn't about an autistic woman. The story is fun and it's a good listen with an interesting historical background. The character of Jane stood out to me from the beginning. I'm an autistic woman who lived most of my life not knowing it, and relate so much to her! Autism was barely beginning to be understood when I was a kid in the 1950s, so Jane's people just thought she was thoughtless and quirky but a whiz at math and logic. I love the fact that she was still treated well by her 'family', and that she was seen as competent and able to run the business. Autism is so poorly understood so it's refreshing to see this character thrive without Autism being highlighted. Though I do wish that the author, if she realized she was writing an autistic character, would have noted that in the afterward.

I really liked the story, though sometimes I wanted to shout at the characters to figure out what was obvious. All in all, I enjoyed it.
