About this listen

Ashley is a young woman broken by choices - some her own, some not. Looking to escape the haunting grip of her past, she embarks on a several-state winter road trip only to pass a sight that changes her life completely: jutting from a dirty snow bank, a small human hand holds its palm up to the sky. Driven by an uncharacteristic need for redemption, Ashley returns to investigate. There, she encounters a seemingly helpful, disturbed local man and the county sheriff. It isn't until the sheriff begins to question Ashley that the terror of her situation dawns: the body in the snow isn't a snowplow accident, but a murder victim, and by coming back to investigate, Ashley has placed herself directly in the serial killer's path. As the next 22 hours unfold, Ashley is confronted with a terrible choice: take advantage of her one chance for escape or attempt rescue of the killer's last remaining victim, possibly sacrificing herself in the process. Only by embracing the ghosts of her past will Ashley survive her descent into the disturbing madness of the freezing season.

I started listening to this audiobook as I started cooking our early Turkey dinner. I was hooked from the very beginning. I did not turn this off all day. I had to know what would happen next. I want to hear more from this author.

Creepy and engaging

What made the experience of listening to The Freezing Season the most enjoyable?

Great reader... very much in tune with the voice of the main character.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I was engaged enough to finish the book in just a little over a day.

Slow start – worth listening to.

The first 20 minutes or so of this book nearly had me returning it... I went back and read some of the reviews which encourage me enough to continue on. This actually was a very good story – glad I stayed with it-

Gruesome but masterful

Hard to get through the visuals evoked but oddly mesmerizing in its masterful words of suspense.

creepy

This story hooked me from the start. It was very creepy and the author pulls you in so you feel like you are part of the story. There were several times I was telling Ashley, the main character, what to do and what not to do. This story will grab you from the beginning to the end, but beware of the creep factor!!

Nightmares

This is one of those books that creep you out and give you nightmares but you can't quit listening to it. I HAD to get to the end so I could have resolution. It was definitely worth it! Narration was good but a bit nasaly sounding. It threw me at first but I got used to it and didn't notice it much anymore.

Riveting from the start.

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

I got caught up in this audiobook from the start, couldn't stop listening. It's 8 hours long and I listened to it in two sittings. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next, great story. There are no boring moments and when things slow down it's very short and then the thrills go up a notch. I'll be checking out more from G. Norman Lippert.

Compelling

Very well written, well narrated. Main character's actions were often unrealistic, but story moved at a good pace and kept my interest.

Awesome Listen!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. The book is engaging and keeps you interested.

I did not like all the self righteous indignation that was being touted as interpersonal dialog by the main character in the beginning chapters. We all hv issues w/the current society climate but a fiction book is not where you spout your opposed solutions; my gosh just start a blog & bash away vs having readers and/or listeners having to tolerate your "feelings".

Besides that issue mentioned above I truly did enjoy the effort that went into describing each scene & I suspect it was not easy writing for the author; descriptions like the ones in this book take time to masterly relay to the reader so they successfully picture what is being read. I immensely appreciate it and enjoyed it. I don't know this author but they hv a great gasp on their grammar skills. Great job on the book & I look forward to more listens from this author.
