About this listen

Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He's short, he's fast, he's got a ton of potential - and he's the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as the Butcher.

Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile, and he doesn't need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny, and the truth will get him killed.

But Neil's not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neil's new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil can't walk away from him a second time.

Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe he's finally found someone and something worth fighting for.

This book is a wild ride and hits every genre. The characters are 3 dimensional and come off as real people who are ruled by their emotions. The story is deep and surprising, never seeming to dull. The narrator was a bit of a rollercoaster. He seemed to stumble over the voices in the beginning, making all the male characters indistinguishable in their gruffness. However, it improved as the book went on. The female characters had a similar problem when they were first introduced as well, although he never quite got out of the nasally prissy tone he used for all of them. Overall an amazing book with a bearable narrator. That could just be my bias though as this is one of my favorite book series. Definitely give it a try if you aren't or dont have time to actually read it.

Great Story, Bearable Narrator

I really was not sure what to think about this book prior to reading, and I still am not sure what to think. I think my main takeaway is the character and world building were very good. I was definitely invested from the very beginning and still am. I do not feel the need to burn through the next two reads though, and think I will let this one settle a bit before going back. The thing about this book is there is a ton of dark undertones. Like there are not a lot of dark scenes, but the dark undertones are there in spades. Neil is a great character, he is strong, fierce, fearful but always stands up for what he believes is right. There were some problematic scenes in the book, but I think it went with the story as far as these broken boys go. And they are all broken in one way or another as well as the girls in the story as well, and really they are all adults, but they all had to grow up way to fast. Also, Coach Wymack is a great character and he was what this team needed. I love Alexander Cendese and thought he did a phenomenal job with this narration. Will definitely be finishing this series.

It is very important to understand you cant listen to just one book, you have to listen to it all or you will not enjoy it. The story is dificult to read, rape, violance, drugs, alcohol, murder. It has to come with a trigger warning,i was not prepered.
This is one of the best stories I read,.

This is a perfect series!

I feel like Andrew is the main reason I’m stuck on this story. Something so fascinating about the fear a 5 foot blonde can instill in… well… everyone. Can’t wait for more!

Andrew, haha.

Alexander Cendese made this story even better. This is not a romance. can't wait to listen to book two.

“It’s about second chances, Neil. Second, third, fourth, whatever, as long as you get at least one more than what anyone else wanted to give you.”

reread august 2018 (my fourth read of this book)
can't believe i read this book again, but the audiobook just coming out it's totally justified! right??

wow man i loved it so much more then i thought i would! at first, i didn't like the narration (just different than i thought it would be) but i got used to it and they did a good job with it overall. i can't wait until the other books come out on audio!

you gotta check it out for yourself

this is the first book in one of my favorite trilogies ever. while I had already read the books (more than once) I decided to listen to the audio this time.

there were ups and downs in the performance, but it was my favorite story, so ill allow it. the guy needs to work on his female voices and on his grammar. he had turned "no. what?" into "nowhat" and it was weird sounding. im overly analytical anyway haha ON TO BOOK 2

welcome home Neil

too short! there should have been an entire act or two more! all that tension , I hope the next book pays it off

great, but I wish was longer

The guy reads like he's spitting saliva into the microphone. He tries to pronounce every single letter in every single word, which makes it unbearable to listen to. His manner of speaking is very tense and overboard. Sometimes I wonder if he's chewing gum, because every syllable is mixed with moisture and as he barks the words, sounds like he has anger issues. He also reads extremely fast. For a book like Foxhole Court, the reader has to pay A LOT of attention, as somethings can get really confusing in the beginning. But Alexander won't give you a chance to think or focus, cuz he's already on the next page. Dude needs to RELAX and SLOW DOWN!!

I recommend you guys buy a physical copy of this book and read it yourself. It's amazing! You just have to get through the confusing parts. Don't stress too much about it. There are just to many characters introduced all at once. You'll get accounted with them and things will make more sense.

Horrible performance
