A WOMAN’S WORLD BEST NEW BOOK

"Heart-breaking, validating, exciting." (Hypable)

"Rich historical detail...this saga has it all." (Woman's World)

Shining a light on a little-known piece of history The Flight Girls is a sweeping portrayal of women's fearlessness, love, and the power of friendship to make us soar.

1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.

To make everything she’s lost count for something, Audrey joins the Women Airforce Service Pilots program. The bonds she forms with her fellow pilots reignite a spark of hope in the face war, and - when James goes missing in action - give Audrey the strength to cross the front lines and fight not only for her country, but for the love she holds so dear.

"Captivated me from the first page and never let go...a powerful tale of courage and sacrifice by the Women Airforce Service Pilots during WWII. A spectacular first novel." (Sara Ackerman, USA TODAY best-selling author of The Lieutenant's Nurse)

Historical romance

This is a romance set during World War II, but with characters holding attitudes and values that seem to be contemporary. I enjoyed the fast pace of the story. And for once, Xe Sands' narration didn't make me cringe.

unbelievably outstanding read

In this book the narrator made you believe you was a part of the happenings. I've laughed, been angry, and cried, and laughed again. I will cherish this book always.

First Time Author Hit it Out of the Park

I absolutely loved this book. I was totally drawn into the story and the characters. Felt every emotion...fear, love, grief, loneliness, etc.The narrator was wonderful and did a brilliant job presenting this story of the very brave female war-time pilots who, historically, we have heard very little about. I look forward to more good reads from this budding author.

I really enjoyed this WWII story

I really enjoyed this WWII debut novel. The world building and character development was really good. I wish there had been more about the actual missions of the female pilots, but I liked the story nonetheless. The narration by Xe Sands was stellar. I will be looking for more books narrated by her. I also look forward to more books by Noelle Salazar.
