About this listen

The best way to get back at my horrible ex? Fake date Rory Miller--my ex's rival, the top scorer in pro hockey, and the arrogant, flirtatious hockey player I tutored in high school.

Faking it is fun and addictive, though, and beneath the bad boy swagger, Rory’s sweet, funny, and protective.

He teaches me to skate and spends way too much money on me.

He sleeps in my bed and convinces me to break my just-one-time hookup rule.

He kisses me like it’s real.

And now I wonder if Rory was ever faking it to begin with.

The Fake Out is a pro hockey fake dating romance in duet audio (duet narration). It is the second book in the Vancouver Storm series but can be listened to as a standalone.

Tropes:

  • Fake dating
  • Ex’s rival
  • Pro hockey
  • Golden retriever hero
  • Boy obsessed
  • Forced proximity

Narration was bad

Audiobooks are my every day thing some people listen to music every day but I listen to books…the female narrator was a huge turn off the entire book she sounded like she was going to cry…the voice she used for other female characters was better than the one for her as the lead. Honestly almost gave up listening because of how much of an ick her voice was but I really enjoyed story. If you are going to get this book definitely listen to the sample before investing.

One of my all time favs

Rory miller. He is everything. And Connor Chase did such a fantastic time narrating him. I love everything about this book

Love Connor’s narration!

Great book and a great hockey romance story! I think I like it more than book 1.

Great Story 🥰

A little bit of a slow start to me, but by the end, I was fully invested. Connor & Kit, phenomenal duet narration. Smooth writing transitions. Storyline was intriguing. I love duet narration, but Connor did this audiobook complete Justice 😍 - he truly gives a good performance!

Great book, annoying female narrator

The female narrators voice fluctuates up and down. All I can think is that there is something wrong with her vocal cords and it's driving me crazy.

Love This Story

The story is so fun and cute, it’s worth reading. The guy narrator is fantastic. That being said, the girl narrator made me want to quit listening and just read it instead. Her voice is both watery and whiney and it really degraded the quality of my experience. I hope she picks a different female narrator for her next book.

Second one is good, indeed.

Second book in the series is really good. A little repetitive but u can let it slide in some areas. Other than that, it’s good.

Good, but too long

Lots of over analyzing. MFC repeats phrases and thoughts too often in her self dialogue. Cute banter & personalities. Overall enjoyable. Connor Crais was an excellent choice for Rory!

Love her stories

Yes it’s a cliche hockey fake dating romance but it was written so perfectly!!! Such a fun smutty read!! The FMC was not annoying and exhausting as usual and the MMC was EVERYTHING!!!

2 books in

so far I do like the series. but the female narrator sounds like she's crying even when she's just talking. the whine in her voice makes her sound like she's in her 60's or 70's with emphysema. it's jarring and makes the story hard to enjoy. the male narrator in this one is awesome. nice deep attractive voice. unlike the guy in the first book. LOL
