Does not disappoint

The narrator does an amazing job bringing the characters to life and making them feel real. I love good voice acting in narrations. It's so much better than just reading the story. you can hear the emotion behind the words.

I devoured the first book when I found it, and have been anxiously awaiting book two and I wish I had taken longer listening because I'm devastated there is no release date for the third book yet.

I love the characters and the world building is fine in a way that is not info dumpy in the way I find a lot of longer books can be. Even the many POV flow together well all coming to connect together.

Brilliant once again

Gary Furlong has the most amazing voice able to convey so many different people/voices/accents with great timing and inflection.
Hailey has such great depth of description for her world and characters, it is always a delight to hear her books come to life with the best narrators.

Wonderful organization and characters

I love it when an author has clearly thought through all the pieces of a complicated story and has all the characters working like clockwork to make that story happen. This book has everything from betrayals and separations to political challenges and rescues. My heart broke for Soren and Vanya and I could read about a strong person like Caris all by herself in multiple books. If you read and enjoyed the first book in this series, you're going to love this one. Gary Furlong gives a wonderful performance and captures all the excitement and emotion in the story.

Holy Moly!!

This steampunk fantasy listen is an excellent listen! The way the story flows takes a bit to get used to with so many characters but it then becomes an easy transition. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

The first book was great, the second is awesome. Fantastic SciFi. Complex story complimented with a world of science and magic. Characters with depth and passion.

Unparalleled sequel and an exceptional narration

'What was burned was ash'

Gary Furlong is one of my favorite narrators and here proves why he is one of the best as well. He drove me to tears with Delani's pain and grief. Honovi's fury was palpable in his narration! He deserves all the stars!

The story continues with Eimarille crowning herself queen and moving her pieces along the chessboard. But she's not the only player on it, and she isn't even the master of this chessboard. In her quest to be the queen of all Maricol she doesn't hesitate to eliminate everyone in her way, and she doesn't even acknowledge that she had a brother once, a brother that might oppose to her ways. He's just a supposed prince and nothing more. I do wish she and her side kick will find their end in the machines they helped be built.

Caris finds herself pushed towards a role she's not prepared for or even wants. What she wants is to save her parents and Nathaniel. Unfortunately for her it seems the way to do so, is through a road she doesn't know how to walk and to a role that seems foreign to her.

Soren's divided between the Wardens and his wishes and wants, and when his secret comes to light, Vanya doesn't handle it well.

Honovi and Blaine are back together here, mostly, but devastation finds them as well and their road changed shape.

I can't wait for the third and last book, that looks like it will be a BIG one!

Amazing world!!

This is such an amazing continuation to this world. This story has my on the edge of seat. With so many things going on i just had to know what was going to happen. I just love following all the characters and get to know their story and their relationship. Then Gary Furlong does an absolutely fabulous job with this narration. I thought I couldn't love this story more and then I hear his narration. Absolutely amazing and I need the 3rd book now please.

Amazing fantasy!

Creative and complex fantasy in a steampunk-inspired world. The characters are amazing, the writing flows and the listener gets swept up into the awesome story.

What a great story-teller and narrator we have in Gary Furlong.

This is book two of the The Infernal War Saga and must be enjoyed in sequence.

God every thing Hailey turner writes is amazing and stand out so much! You can’t go wrong with reading anything by her!

Suspenseful

I’m now dying for the next book. That said, I feel like this author could sometimes use tighter editing. There are some redundant phrases that distract from how good the story is. Also, incorrect used of “dearth of” and holy omg will the otherwise very excellent Gary Furlong please learn to pronounce machinations!
