About this listen

Experience the completed Earth Magic Rises trilogy. Bursting with magic, fairies, adventure, friendship, and love, this bundle contains all three titles by a USA Today and Amazon best-selling author: Bones of the Witch, Ashes of the Wise, and Heart of the Fae.

High in the hills of Scotland, an ancient evil has returned. One young woman struggling to master her magic is the only hope to stop it.

First, it is drums only she can hear, then a shadow only she can see. But the discovery of a mummified body entombed in an ancient wall and a young woman’s disappearance create a mystery Georjie is uniquely equipped to answer.

Teaming up with a handsome amateur historian, she uses her earth elemental gift to overturn secrets hidden deep in the soil. But never far from the trail of clues lurks a dark creature on the hunt for prey. As each clue is revealed, she learns more about her heritage and her own family history, revealing an uncomfortable link between herself and the wickedly alluring entity.

Can Georjie unravel the mystery to save innocent lives…and her own?

Take a roller coaster ride through time across dimensions and across the Scottish countryside. If you like strong heroines, dark sorcery, and medieval highland history, then you’ll love A.L. Knorr’s unforgettable teen fantasy adventure. Perfect for fans of Kelley Armstrong, Shannon Mayer, and Holly Black.

Excellent Fantasy!

I love fantasy, and often revisit my favorite adventures. I'd never read/heard this series or author before, but I really wanted a new fantasy adventure. This was absolutely perfect, both in the story and the narration. Now I want to listen to the rest by this AL Knorr!

Enter and stay awhile with the Fae

I loved the narrator. She enhanced the experience of an already great story.

This boxed set provided the convenience of binge listening to the trilogy of Earth Magic Rises. Bones of the Witch--Georjie leads the adventure in the Highlands with a double mystery from the past and one unfortunately happening in the present. She must harness her powers to win against unknown forces that isn't a guaranteed success. Ashes of the Wise--Georjie in advertently raises the stakes because of her powers ratcheting up the suspense in the continuation of the series. Good news is that the romance blossoms with Lachlan, and the duo are off to do what they can to right the wrongs. Heart of the Fae-- Georjie is faced with mounting dilemmas and daunting choices. A.L. Knorr doesn't disappoint with testing her characters' endurance and sense of purpose to reset the order of their worlds. As usual, great job!

A good read!

This was a recommended read so I was on the fence but I’m glad I read it!

My pros: The storyline was very intriguing and I enjoyed the element of mystery that ran throughout the series. The first book especially had me feeling like this was a cool crime time fantasy and I was digging it! I also appreciated that none of the books felt like cliffhangers. They had solid endings that left you wanting more but didn’t make you feel cut off. I also loved her version of the fae world and the characters she had there. She did a fantastic job of weaving fantasy, mystery, and intrigue all together!

My cons: The MCs love story kind of just happened. I remember when she proclaimed her love I was like “ummm okay then.” LOL. I mean they meet and see each other from time to time and had one date but I don’t know if that qualified the MC to say “I’m in love!” It was a little jarring but I got over it.

Also, I felt like the MC should have been a character in her early 20’s. It made no sense for her to be a teenage HS senior especially with all the traveling, lack of school, and sex she was having. The narrator also read like an adult so every time the MCs age was mentioned it threw me off. It was a small annoyance that pulled me out of the story at times but nothing major.

On a nitpicking note: One thing that did really bug me to the point of not liking the MC was in the third book when her friend comes to visit. Her friend is clearly trying to tell her she is dealing with bullying and the MC just totally brushes off her friend like it’s no big deal / get over it, even though the whole series has been nothing but people checking in on the MC and her remarking on how great it is they are there for her. It really changed my view of the MC and stuck with me, so I wish the author had changed that. But again, just a nitpicky rant LOL.

OVERALL: great read and great narration! I hope the author writes another book so we can see how they all end up down the line. Especially since *SPOILER ALERT* there is a possibility of Margaret still being out there or returning (since we learned she also consumed a few Wise.)

Read to preview for my granddaughter's library.

Great most of the way. Action, drama, and love are represented by Age-appropriate relationships nicely right up to the explanation of the drugged, rape and impregnating of the many mortal women, including girl's mother to produce offspring and populate. Uggh, why not make it magical?! Also, the author messed up some of the plot threads. ie) Can the girl magically free herself from bad things as the Fae Queen explains in training or not? Not bad, some issues for young readers.

Excellent Ride!

Narrator did an awesome job, as always. I only have one bit to point out. Saxony from the Arcturus Academy series has a tiny cameo here. Marni narrated the Arcturus Academy and gave Saxony a different voice in her cameo here. She has a super husky, sometimes gravelly voice in her own Arcturus books, but here she's high-pitched and hyper with only a tiny bit of high-pitched gravel to roughen the sound of her. I didn't take any points off for that though. Just wanted to mention it for readers who devour all of Knorr's series.

I loved this series so much! I mean, how could I not want to continue Georjie's story when it's full of fae???? Descriptions were beautiful. The story was exciting. Action was well-paced. Romance was on point. There were some points that I'm not quite sure about timeline-wise in books 2 and 3, so I'm going to look further into those. If there is a discrepancy, I'll leave the stars as they are. If I'm wrong, I'll change them to a full 5 for Story.
