About this listen

One woman catches his eye....

London, 1819. Four years ago, Darius, the earl of Redgrave, fled London two weeks before his wedding to Lady Mary’s sister and married another woman. Now a widower, he has returned to seek a new wife.

At first, Lady Mary doesn’t recognize the handsome lord as the cad who ran out on her sister. After giving him the cut direct in a London ballroom, she finds herself running into him everywhere she goes and fighting a forbidden attraction. Not only has Mary sworn off men, Redgrave is so very wrong for her. But she cannot stop thinking of his kisses. Redgrave means to stay away from Mary, but it is impossible. Passion between two people who can never be together is a dangerous game.

Cute story.

It was an enjoyable listen. The narrator, Sienna Francis, did a nice job as well.

No sister loyalty!

I enjoyed this series about the Lacey sisters until Mary’s story. While the writing was good I didn’t like that Mary would have a relationship with a man who was engaged to her sister regardless if the sister loved the man or not. The concept of pursuing a relationship with a man who may have been intimate with your sister is outside of my moral/loyalty compass. The storyline was a turnoff for me but I recommend the series.

Female lead starts strong, ends weak

I understand the need to keep twists and turns but the female lead becomes a ninny by the end of the book.

Entertaining Series: Book #3 Through Book #7

To be clear, I listened only to Book #3 through Book #7 of this series because they were the ones offered free through my subscription. I've been an audible listener for over 10 years, and my listening preference has gone from mysteries and romance dramas to courtroom dramas and a few others in-between. For the past year or two, I've gotten hooked on historical regency romances. Many of them contain a lot of foolishness, but at the core of most, I've found a good storyline and good drama. That said, I enjoyed all of the books in this series that I listened to. Some had me laughing out loud, and o ne or two of them had me up late in the night because I wanted to know what happens next. I recommend these books if you're looking for easy listening, fun entertainment. The narrator was pretty good otherwise I would not have listened to the series. I strongly believed/know that a narrator can make or break a novel.

Second chances

A nice ending to this series. Finally Drake, Duke of Manchester is able to marry off his last sister . It's been four years since Darius, Earl of Redgrave, fled London mere weeks before his wedding to Mary Lacey's sister Abigail, bringing shame and scandal upon her family. Now he's back looking for a new bride after the death of the woman he jilted Abigail for. Happening upon Mary at his first ball he is immediately drawn to her, but feels he shouldn't entertain thoughts of her as a potential bride. But they seem to keep running into each other and soon the feelings between the two can't be denied. Will he do to Mary what he did to her sister Abigail? Only time will tell. Good read, great story.

excellent

This book in the series was my favorite! A longer epilogue would've been nice to Tyanne all the characters better. They never said anything what happened with Sarah's book
