About this listen

Fans of Bridgerton will fall in love with this sparkling Regency romance from best-selling author Jane Ashford! The duke of Tereford is accustomed to getting his own way, but she's going to teach him a thing or two about love....

James Cantrell, the new duke of Tereford, has inherited a dukedom in disarray and is overwhelmed by his unaccustomed responsibilities. Then he gets an idea. Cecelia Vainsmede served as liaison between James and her father, and she knows a great deal about business matters, his own in particular. She's also quite pretty. Ever the pragmatist, he suggests a marriage of convenience.

Cecelia has always been good at working with James, but she doesn't understand how he can be so obtuse. He clearly doesn't realize that he's the duke she's always wished for, or that his offer is an insult. But when a German prince arrives in London and immediately sets out to woo Cecelia, James will have to come to terms with what he really feels for her. Is running away worth the cost of losing her, or will the duke dare to win her once and for all?

Ive been listening for 4+ hours and the so called romantic hero is one of the most repulsively selfish and ignorant book characters I have ever encountered. I'm beginning to lose all hope.

Why am I on chapter 9 and I still hate the male lead?

I basically need anything Rosalyn Landor reads 🤪!! This was a cute story, with an even pace. Good for errands, folding clothes. I enjoyed it.

Cute

It took them a while to admit love for each other. It ended in a bit of a cliff hanger - leaving me anxious to get to the next one

I love me a happy ending

Well paced and well read. The author is one of my favorites. I look forward to reading the next book.

The continuity of the story line

I enjoy a more complicated plot, but other than that, this is a light and entertaining story with good characterization and a good narrator.

Entertaining!

First time listening to this author. A good story and love Roselyn Landor narration. I seek books based her narration.

Loved the story & narration

I loved this story, it had an easy flowing storyline with lots of exciting situations. A lot of times these romance novels makes me angst over the situations being too awkward or uncomfortable but this did not do that at all. Just enough intimate suggestions without all the detailed description which was refreshing. And EXCELLENT narration!!

FUN STORY

I l9ved everything about this book. Very well written, funny and terribly romantic. It even makes you fall in love with the two fussy, irritating MCs. The angst between them so welldone. Believable and not the bit contrived. I loved the hording isdue and the struggle for control between the two... very much like a real marriage. All told by an exemplary narrator! BRAVO!

EXCEPTIONAL

It was a long story, but they waste a lot of time so at the end you really lost a lot of the problems they had from the hero and heroine problems when they married. It just ended. Yes they are together and they love each other but they still have a lot of problems. But it is a good book.

Good but not excellent

Story want nearly spicy enough. They fight constantly and the ending is abrupt and unfinished. Rosalyn Landor is fantastic as always.

Excellent narrator, somewhat boring story
