About this listen

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

‘Immensely gripping…Stayed up till past 2am to finish this’ Sophie Hannah

Four people walked into the dining room that night. One would never leave.

Matthew: the perfect husband.

Titus: the perfect son.

Charlie: the perfect illusion.

Rachel: the perfect stranger.

Charlie didn’t want her at the book club. Matthew wouldn’t listen.

And that’s how Charlie finds himself slumped beside his husband’s body, their son sitting silently at the dinner table, while Rachel calls 999, the bloody knife still gripped in her hand.

Classic crime meets Donna Tartt in this nerve-shredding domestic noir thriller that weaves a sprawling web of secrets around an opulent West London world and the dinner that ends in death.

Meh

Story was too long and drawn out with no real pay off. Kept waiting for something big.

Don’t pass this by

Unpredictable, well rounded characters and excellent writing. Don’t understand why the ratings aren’t higher. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

love it but...

I think this is a great story, however, the plot was drawn out and the twist was slightly bland. Like I said, it was great, interesting, I felt liberated for the characters. The last 6 hours had far and few revelations making it harder to stay glued. Overall I enjoyed this and would listen to more books by this author.

Sorry

I was extremely let down by this book and it left so many loose ends, I'm sorry to judge it so harsh but after reading other reviews I thought it would be a good read but I found myself struggling to get through the entire thing.

Amazing - slow burning fun

Love the plot device and the set-up. The narrators were perfection - if you like thrillers you need to give this a whirl.

Good Story, Mixed Narration Review

Story was compelling. Marston York’s narration was wonderful, however Katy Sobey’s performance was rather flat and monotonous.

Couldn’t stop listening

I like mysteries more than suspense but this was a story told so well that I couldn’t stop listening. I was guessing until the end.
