My day at work had been so long, and all I wanted to do was get home to rest and relax. I was so close I could feel it when I heard my phone buzz. Who could it be, I thought? I put the car in park and checked the message. It was from my best friend. Patty: I can't wait for the Halloween party tonight. I'm so excited to see Josh. Thank you for going with me, Maddie. I'll pick you up at six. Look sexy. It'll be fun, I promise. I let out a sigh, leaned my head back against the seat, and closed my eyes. How could I have forgotten that I promised to go with her, I thought? She was talking to some new guy who invited her to a party. If I didn't go with her, I knew she wouldn't go alone. There was no way I could let her down. As I got ready, I tried to convince myself it would be fun to have a few drinks and relax. The only costume I had was Catwoman. It was cute and sexy but not too revealing. It would have to do. Patty's man introduced me to a good friend of his and the owner of the beautiful home we were standing in. He didn't want to leave me alone and wanted Patty to himself. I looked up at the man in front of me dressed as Batman and thought about what Patty had said on the way over. “I think tonight you should let your hair down, have a few drinks, and meet a hot guy. Have a night of fun. It's a Halloween party. You need to enjoy it. Hook up with a hottie for one night. Can you imagine how fun it would be?" she asked. Maybe she was right, I thought. How bad could it be? One night of romance could be fun, right?
