About this listen

The conclusion to Joseph Delaney’s three-book arc about Thomas Ward that began with A New Darkness! The chilling and action-packed adventure from the internationally best-selling Last Apprentice series will delight fans new and old.

In his job as the county spook, 17-year-old Thomas Ward is used to battling boggarts, witches, and other creatures of the dark. But now he and his apprentice, Jenny, must team up with former rivals and enemies to fight the evil Kobalos warriors intent on destroying the county.

The fight has cost the life of a strong ally, Grimalkin the witch assassin. Determined to end the war with the demons, Tom leads Jenny and Alice to Pendle for one last epic clash. Loyalties will be tested, alliances will be broken, and not everyone will survive.

A final, heart-pounding adventure about Thomas Ward, from the internationally best-selling author of The Last Apprentice series, which Booklist called “one of the best-written [series] of the last several years.” Delaney’s deliciously scary imagination will satisfy longtime fans and intrigue new ones.

Perfect for listeners who love thrills, chills, and adventure - no prior knowledge of the Last Apprentice series needed!

I have enjoyed all the books in this series and this one has not let me down. A new twist by the dark and enemies of the county. Wow.

Grimalkin is back

Okay. This is not really a spoiler she’s in the prologue. (I almost broke my iPod with her fate in the previous book.) That being said this novel brings a hard but satisfying end. My heart broke for Tom twice. This is a solid conclusion to a 16 book series. Also they finally recover from Mr Welsh’s passing. The narrators are good and capture each character very well.

You technically could start here but I would not recommend it. This book actually left an emotional impact on me. Start at the beginning, not the end.

I wish I could give more stars. So few series end ad well as this.

What a mesmerized ending!

My all time favorite series from the very first book of the last apprentice to this book, I will miss this series. Joseph Delaney won the hurt of his fans and he definitely won my heart, what a mesmerized ending!

a lovely end to a lovely series

i fell in love with this series years ago and this book did not disappoint. it was beautifully told with drama, horror, action, and adventure throughout. i remember being crushed at the end of the last series for obvious reasons (i wont spoil incase others want to go back). but i ADORE how this one ends. Dare i say id sell my soul to the dark for more. thank you Mr. Delaney for your amazing and inspiring storys. as an American listner/reader i, at first, found it hard to enjoy Mr. Judd's interpretation of the characters, but now love it. well done by him!
this is mostly because the first 9 or so books were by a nother voice actor who sadly passed away. i still prefer the originals voice because of how he pronounced things, but Judd is just as skill albeit slightly different :] i look forward to more work in future. the only problem I have is the book to me doesnt truly feel unabridged. this is because there are more then one voice actor. dont get me wrong i love all of them and they all did a great job, but personally i liked it a bit more when it was all done by one person. that being said i highly highly recommend this series including this book to everyone.

Epic Excellence

Loved the story, worth a re-read and thanks to the (real) lady voice Grimalkin blazed along with the rest. This trilogy is truly a pleasure, thanks Joseph Delaney and all who aided my ears to cheers😄

Least favorite of the series

Let me start by saying I love this series, but this book was not up to the standard of the others. This book felt rushed and choppy. One of the deaths in the story was so quick and meaningless that I had to go back and listen again to see if I had missed something. The readers were all great as always.
