About this listen

They say the course of true love never runs smooth.

That's nothing a magical cupcake can't solve.

Julie

Buttercream. Vanilla. Fondant. Dark chocolate. Brown sugar. Molasses. Baking has always been my true love, but it wasn't until my mother's death, and the unexpected inheritance of Serendipity Gardens, that my bliss called me. Bittersweet. But Serendipity Gardens has more to offer than just a potential shopfront. An unusual recipe box left to me by a distant relative might be the key to unlocking my dreams.

Too bad the most powerful family in Chancellor has plans that could turn those dreams to ruins - literally.

Too bad the son of that powerful family is just the kind of guy I've been looking for.

Horatio

I suppose being heir to the Hunter family's Blushing Grape Winery should make me happy, but nothing could be further from the truth. With my mother gone, my father has taken me under his wing, and I despise everything about the way he does business. Sour grapes indeed. Instead of raising money for charitable causes, my true passion, I'm chasing my father's manifest destiny.

Too bad his dream includes paving paradise.

Too bad the property owner is the sweetest woman I've ever met.

Enchanting!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! The Cupcake Witch is such a quaint loving story! It reminded me of a Hallmark movie that I didn't want to end!

What did you like best about this story?

The fairy tale of it all! The Cupcake Witch takes you to a place that you truly want to live in, the characters are so genuine and sincere I wanted to be friends with them!

Any additional comments?

The Cupcake Witch is a delightful, fairy tale, romance! It whisks you away to a town and has you wishing you were walking the streets with them! My wish...that is was longer! The fairy tale of it all! The characters are so genuine and sincere I wanted to be friends with them all! Hollie Jackson does a great job bringing the emotion of the spells being cast and brewed and the spirit of her relative around the house. You could feel it in Hollie's voice.

an original fairytale for the Hallmark generation

The Cupcake Witch is a cozy little romance set in a small town. It has a love at first sight trope which I guess works here because otherwise this short story would need to be a lot longer.

This story isn't really a retellings of an one fairy tale. Instead this story is much closer to the Good Witch series from Hallmark, both in tone and in plot structure.

Girl moves to small town to open a small business, girl meets guy, guy likes girl, girl is magical...or is she? it might just be luck, or coincidence, but yeah it's probably magic.

The content is clean. there is a second where the heroine is admiring the hero's six pack but that's as far as it goes.

The narrator did a lovely job reading. She does try to give the characters their own voices but while she does alright with the women, mostly all the men sound the same.

Sweet small town romance

I loved the whole vibe of this story. it would be perfect to read while baking or sitting by a fire. the narration was a little stilted which made it hard to get into, but overall a solid read.

Excellent Short Story

Poppy did it again. She caught me in the first sentence and didn't let go until the end. I really enjoyed this short story. It was short and sweet. Just like the baking that Julie does for the town. Except Julie's cooking has something in it that most bakers do not have. Poppy gives us great characters to read about and Hollie gives us great characters as she narrates. This book is worth reading/listening. There is more than one story here and they are all very exciting. Looking for the next book to fill my time between big books and to get my sweet romance fix.

Magnificent

I received this book from author in return for a review. Loved it. Poppy Lawless is a gifted writer story blended seamlessly. Narrator kept story upbeat so there was no way you would stop listening to hear what happens at the end. Will definitely listen to more books read by this narrator.

That recipe book should be on Amazon....

This is a cute story about a woman that inherits a funky old house. Her dad is a real estate agent and sends Julie to inspect the house and put up the for sale signs. Once she arrives, Julie falls in love with the place and wants to keep it.

Unfortunately, a local land baron sends his son Horatio to buy the place. Horatio (yes this is his real name) actually kind of crushes on Julie. He asks Julie to go for lunch/coffee with him. Things are great between the two until the point where he says his dad will pay anything she wants for the land. His dad wants to make it a parking lot for his restaurant.

This totally upsets Julie and she is now determined to stay. While sorting through the house she finds a recipe book. These are not ordinary cook book recipes. Julie finds that she has a good bit of magic and starts meeting all of the locals. Then the fun begins.

This has a fun story line with clean budding romance and is series of books that I will be buying soon.

The narrator is good. Her voice has great inflection in all of the right places and her characters are distinct and different from each other.
