Better the devil you know than the devil you don't...

A deadly new enemy rules Alesia with an iron fist - and an unnatural interest in the magic of the Confectioner's Guild. Betrayed by one of their own, Wren and her few remaining allies flee Maradis to secure whatever aid they can find.

But new dangers and old ghosts lurk around every corner, forcing Wren to confront truths she thought she'd buried deep long ago. Will Wren be able to piece together an alliance, and enough of her own shattered heart, to take back her home from those who hold it hostage? Or will her magic prove too tempting a morsel for her enemies to refuse...

Great conclusion!

Loved how the third installment continued where the last one ended. The narrator, Kelsey does a marvelous job. She is able to portray all of the characters by using multiple voices for all of them. Easy to follow!!
I didn’t realize how much I missed this world till I started this audiobook. Ohh Wren is on a journey in this book. I was on the edge of my seat listening.

Magic Exists

I loved this series from the first book if you love mystery with a twist like magic infused treats this series will be perfect for you. This is the final novel and it all comes down to guarding magic or letting the truth out. The story is woven together so well your on the edge of your seat the entire time. I like that the characters are flawed and not perfect, that makes them easier to accept when they do the unexpected. I would throughly loved to see more books with these characters as i think their a real uniqueness to them.

Good Finale

I have been enjoying the Confectioner Chronicles and was worried about the ending. Too many trilogies flounder at the end. This one did not. Claire Luana keeps you guessing taking the story in directions you don't expect. I liked I couldn't just predict everything.
The only issue with the writing is the fight scenes are basic and choppy. I wasn't really excited about them.
I enjoyed the narrator s usual. She gave a real voice to Wren and made other characters distinct.
Overall this was a fun series with a good finale.

Wonderful and magical series

This whole series was a wonderful and magical series I just loved it! As the final book in the series it did not let down and was filled with a great action and adventure and was conclusion to the whole story. I liked the narrator choice, I think she did a good job bringing the characters to life and did a good job with both male and female characters. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun story filled with magic, rebellions and strong friendships to get them through the tough times.

Fantastic conclusion for the trilogy

I absolutely loved this trilogy! The third, and final book did not disappoint at all. After the emotionally and physically devastating ending of the second book, the characters are left in not very good places. Wren, Lucas, Hale, Tom, Caladis, Olivia, et all, are all dealing with the aftermath in their own ways.

This world, full of magically infused food and drink, is such a unique and well constructed place, it easily draws you in. I love the use of food metaphors when describing things, it adds so much more to the perspective, and brings food and drink that more more to the forefront. And the use of food based expletives is perfect (“You scared the sugar out of me!) Everything drives home how much food plays a part in the lives of these characters. It’s their very essence.

The revolt against the new emperor is full of twists and turns. With alliances and betrayals, loyalties seemingly flip like pancakes (see, the food metaphors are contagious!). It’s a roller coaster ride of events and emotions all the way to the end. There are some very sweet relationship moments between Wren and Lucas, but especially Tom and Trick. I found myself smiling a lot whenever we got to see them together. The action is heart pounding and fast paced, and and story line likes with twist and turn, keeping you guessing.

The ending was the perfect conclusion to the story. It worked so well, and left me very satisfied with the outcome. I’m sad that the trilogy is over, but I enjoyed every minute of the ride.
