About this listen

Nicks Costello takes the reader with him from his hard-working roots in the Liberties of Dublin on a search for enlightenment that took him half way around the world to Hong Kong. There he discovered the human face of the Buddha in the friendliness and compassion of everyday people who were quietly and unobtrusively practising ancient eastern traditions of spirit, mind and body, cultivating a connection to the soul of the universe that exists in all of us and giving freely of their knowledge to all who ask so that the healing benefits can be experienced by everyone.

This poignant, often funny - always honest story is told by Nick in his own words. It pulls no punches and is written as a raw truth from the heart. It resonates at the highest level with the "chi" or universal love that resides in everyone.

All the profits from the book will go to Nicks own charity foundation and will be shared with the following charities located in Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland SOSAD Ireland (Save Our Sons And Daughters), suicide prevention and bereavement support & The Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.©2014 Shaolin Buddhist Temple (P)2014 Shaolin Buddhist Temple

Kung fu overview (wish it had been in the title)

First part of book more story based on Costello’s life experiences during his development of Kung fu. Many of which are very entertaining. Second part mainly covers specifics related to Kung fu and Buddhism. Good book but title and description somewhat misleading. Overall great book on patience, energy and time to be true.

Really good book about Buddhism and Kung Fu.

Would you listen to The Coalman, the Dragon and the Buddha again? Why?

It is a very good set of stories about interesting story matter, told by a sincere and engaged author.

What other book might you compare The Coalman, the Dragon and the Buddha to and why?

It is a little like a cross between Alan Watts and "American Shaolin". That's the closest I can think of.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think he has other books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

The whole world needs to learn the lessons and principles presented in this book.
