About this listen

What the world dreads most has happened because of a mutated avian bird flu (H5N1) pandemic. It has ravaged the globe. Only 2% of the population has survived. A dying mother knows that her young child is among the few remaining immune to the virus. What will she do to ensure his survival before her own coming tragic death?

Meanwhile, Graham has buried his last remaining family member. Following his father's advice to make it to the family cabin, he meets with triumph and tragedy; learning new rules along the way. Just when he thinks he's finally got a handle on this new world, he's taken by surprise, as he learns he's not alone. A hidden yet vulnerable community of Preppers are nearby. Will he find the strength to escape these dangers and go on living? And more importantly, will he have the ability to protect those he's come to trust?

If you like post apocalyptic novels, you'll like this one.

Not a great novel, but worth the read. The story was good with a few unusual twist. It got a little stupid right at the end, But it was still fun to read.

Enjoyed A Different Style of Post-Apocalyptic...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book. It had a great story and very good characters. Different from other post-apocalyptic stories I have recently read. Looking forward to book 2.

Very prophetic story that could've been close to the truth based our lives now. Suspenseful well written book. Great narration as well. Highly recommend it.

well worth it

I read this years ago and decided it was time to freshen back up with the audible version, even though I knew the story I really enjoyed it. I love AR's attention to detail. Well researched and well written. thank you.

Good storyline.... Bad narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'm tossed up on this one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Graham

Did Darriel Driml do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

No. His voice progressively became very monotone & almost mumbling at times. He only did one character's voice. The rest of the characters mostly just blended in with the sentence. The terrible narration almost caused me to return the book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

The book was interesting. I just can't understand how a good author would allow a narrator to ruin what would have been a wonderful read. I will still get book 2 of the series, although I see that is unfortunately the same narrator.

great post apocalyptic novel

Rating: 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this novel. The characters were well developed and the author drew you into the story through the connection you felt with the characters. The author's descriptions of the scenery made it possible for me to visualize the settings and emotions the characters had. This also immersed me further into the story. I will not give any more details about the story because I do not want to give any of the story away.

The narration of this story was just OK. The narrator had a pleasant voice to listen to. However, there was no clear voice differentiation between the many characters.

There is no swearing in this book, but because of the violence, I would rate this book PG-13. I recommend this book to those who like a good post apocalyptic read.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.
