President Clarke enacts a no-tolerance policy on the southern border to prevent refugees from entering the US.
Jamie Stroud, a reporter for The Chicago Clarion, receives permission to travel to Brownsville, Texas, to interview detained families at the border. She meets Maria Hernandez who fled from Guatemala with her 7-year-old daughter after the death of her husband and son at the hands of a gang who shot them and kidnapped her 15-year-old daughter. Maria and Sofia Hernandez enter the US after being granted asylum and are promptly separated from each other and caged like wild animals. Jamie writes an emotional article for The Chicago Clarion on the plight of Maria, eliciting enormous sympathy from her readers.
At the same time, she is hunting down a serial killer who has arrived in Chicago and has so far murdered nine innocent women. Cari, 37, was a devoted mother, reliable employee, and loyal friend - not the type to shirk responsibilities, abandon her son, and run off on an adventure while her dying father took his last breaths. Yet, the many texts from her phone indicated she had done just that. While Cari's boyfriend, Dave Kroupa, and her supervisor were bewildered by her abrupt disappearance, they accepted the texts at face value. Story
Fifty years ago, a serial killer prowled the quiet city of London, Ontario, marking it as his hunting grounds. As young women and boys were abducted, raped, and murdered, residents of the area held their loved ones closer and closer, terrified of the monster - or monsters - stalking the streets. Homicide detective Dennis Alsop began hunting the killer in the 1960s, and he didn’t stop searching until his death 40 years later.

Story
Clare Fergusson, St. Alban's new priest, fits like a square peg in the conservative Episcopal parish at Miller's Kill, New York. She is not just a "lady"; she's a tough ex-Army chopper pilot, and nobody's fool. Then a newborn infant left at the church door brings her together with the town's police chief, Russ Van Alstyne, who's also ex-Army and a cynical good shepherd for the stray sheep of his hometown.

Story
The first audiobook which appeared in Georges Simenon's famous Maigret series, in a gripping new translation by David Bellos.Inevitably Maigret was a hostile presence in the Majestic. He constituted a kind of foreign body that the hotel's atmosphere could not assimilate. Not that he looked like a cartoon policeman. He didn't have a moustache and he didn't wear heavy boots. His clothes were well cut and made of fairly light worsted. He shaved every day and looked after his hands. But his frame was proletarian. He was a big, bony man.
