About this listen

Demons have been hunted to the verge of extinction. Those who know of the horrors lurking in the dark act as though the threat is long past. It has allowed Conrad to continue his education undisturbed, to work toward joining his friends as a comrade-in-arms rather than a child to be protected.

The appearance of two powerful demons changes everything. The creatures are back, stronger than ever, and the years of quiet are at an end. The Principality finds itself in need of demon hunters once again. Conrad and his comrades are the ones for the job.

The chain of clues draws them ever closer to what their unseen enemy desires, and they find themselves in a deadly race to stop it from regaining its former power.

Great story and love the narration

Great story and love the narration. The author knows exactly how to tie the story in with his other books.

A great edition to this series and the fantasy world

I really have enjoyed this book. Not the longest but rich in detail and character. Good suspense building with a teetering moment where you feel the the only inevitable outcome is the heroes failing. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Usually a middle book has its own problems for this case this middle book succeeded in every way building gap in the first and left you thinking for the third.

Great Continuation

The Banneret book #2 in the Blood of Kings series by Duncan M. Hamilton is a wonderful continuation of the series and Mr. Hamilton is definitely a writer that I will follow. Picking up six years after the first book ends, Conrad has now graduated from an academy as a Banneret and he joins his old rescuers.

This book is full of action and suspense. The narration by John Lee was again outstanding and enhanced the audible listening experience. Unfortunately, now I must wait in frustration for the next book in the series. Probably 4.4 stars rounded down.

super story line

at first it sounded a bit unusual, an Italian living in Germany fighting demons ... but as the first then second book developed, it turned into a pretty good yarn ... the characters developed as did the story and it turned out to be a very good listen...

Another fantastic series by Duncan M. Hamilton!

I lov hothe series written in this world! I especially love the mentions of the other characters and places from previous series set in this world. It really ties things together and makes the world feel more alive. There were a couple minor errors that I think should have been caught in editing, but that is my only complaint.

Definitely a Twist

This novel felt like The Empire Stikes Back of the series - great plot, but not a happy one if you're cheering for the MC and his comrades.

Plot: More non-stop than The Squire, it was engaging, with some world building development but not as much as The Squire.

Characters: The most impressive part to me was getting into the head of the villain from the last novel. I could almost like him, if not just pity him. MC and his companions developed a little, tho mostly MC.

Narration: It took time to calibrate and distinguish John Lee's accents again. I found myself wishing different nationalities sounded more different.

Overall: Worth it if you've started the series already. Crossover with other Middle Sea novels in this one (places, characters, and references to events from past series) adds to the entertainment value if you're a long-time Duncan M. Hamilton fan.
