The wizard, an ancient soul who understands the cost of failure. And by fortune’s curse or fortune's favor, two orphans from the growing war must carry the kingdom forward. As has always been, the burden of the future lies across the shoulders of the young.

Came for the narrator. stayed for the writing.

I enjoy Travis Baldree's books on audible and will sometimes continue series with less polished writing because his talent can carry the book. I'm going to be checking out A.C Cobbles other books after this. I usually prefer my fantasy magic to be a bit more crunchy and rule oriented so I've stayed away from the authors work in the past but it seems I was mistaken. no wizard/God/magic ability you've never heard of saving the day. I found the person who does not have magic talent being picked for an interesting job a nice brake from the "you're special because you where born a wizard" that haunts a lot of fantasy .everyone acts in a believable way. The English language seems like an obtient pet that wants to impress the author with all the tricks it knows with the way the author can turn a phrase over on its belly. 10 for 10 would recommend.

Very well written

Solid story with good characters and dialogue interested to see where it goes, feels like the magic wasn’t touched too much which I’m honestly okay with but I’d love to see more of it. Feels like like the mc is just involved in thinks for kinda no reason sometimes but it’s not a major plot hole

New series

Lots of character building mixed in with action and storyline plot. Well done good sir.

Good story

What a gem. This is the first time I feel like leaving a review. How is this not more popular. Characters you can care about, good laughs, and good story with great performance. Not as grim as Abercrombie but life is still cheap.

Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

Conspiracy sets the stage for what should be a great series. I looked forward to every chapter in Tilly and Fisher’s stories, and can’t wait to see how the young characters grow.

A Promising Start

Conspiracy is an excellent start to a series with a lot of promise. The reader is immediately thrown into the political chaos of the fictional kingdom of Wahrheit. There are a variety of perspectives, each with their own opinions and views of what is happening. The author is able to balance these in an interesting and fascinating way that allows the reader to experience the feelings of the characters in a variety of ways. The conspiracy of what is happening makes it exciting and interesting to jump from character to character. There were a couple of characters where it felt more like building the sequel rather than adding to the story of the first book.

The strength of this novel were the characters. It is a decent sized cast of characters, each with their own personality and perspective of what is happening. There are several that I really enjoyed reading and looked forward to the chapters where they were the highlight. But as I said, there were a couple where I felt the narrative just took a small turn and lost some of the flow that I was expecting. I look forward to what could be done with this series in future installments from these viewpoints though.

Overall, Conspiracy is a great epic fantasy with a lot of political intrigue. It is a fast paced with some heart pounding action, including dragon knights and gun toting soldiers. I never thought guns and dragons could mix, but this is done in an excellent manner. The story is really brought to life in the audio format by the talented Mr. Travis Baldree. This provides a lot of personality to many of these fascinating characters. Mr. Cobble has provided a solid start to what will be a very interesting series that I look forward to continuing.

I like this author.

A.C. writes a good story. This books basis didn't make much sense as far as typical customary reasons go. If you can ignore that particular part the story itself is quite entertaining and good.

Solid fantasy

Loved the story. Annoyed with the over ignorance and navity from a couple of the mains but overall a good story.
