Acerca de esta escucha

In The Aviator, Navy fighter pilot Jack Knapp reports to the aircraft carrier Independence for his first deployment in the Pacific. As a “nugget”, he must learn the ropes and gain acceptance among the tight-knit tribe of the squadron called the Gargoyles. Soon, war erupts, and everything he learned will be tested in high-speed aerial combat in the Philippine Sea and over Taiwan.

In The Warfighter, Jack returns to Independence, which is now bound for war games in South Korea. Once aboard, he must contend with a tough new commander and a failed romance. When a series of mishaps and miscalculations results in the outbreak of war in the Koreas, he finds himself back in combat with even greater stakes involving nuclear weapons.

The Aviator series is the tale of an ordinary man doing an extraordinary job in sometimes impossible circumstances. It’s about survival, combat, the stories we tell about war, and the debt that people in the military owe each other and those they lose. Gritty and realistic, the Aviator series takes you onto an aircraft carrier and into the cockpit of an F/A-18 Super Hornet in incredible battles with the existence of nations and the global order at stake.

The aviator (Book 1) was great with good pacing and great in the cockpit detail to put you in the story.
The Warfighter (Book 2) was also great with the aspects above, but I also enjoyed the characters introduced in this book.

The one thing I disliked about the whole story was the news story plot of the second book. it gave an interesting twist to the story, but I tuned out for most of those parts.

Makes you feel like your in the middle seat of a two person cockpit.

Great for understanding war even though this is a fictional book. Helped me understand war much better.

Excellent book for fictional war

I liked it but did not love it.
This was my third, after Armor and Crash Dive series. I missed the dialogues frim those series, which were mostly replaced by monologues from the main character.
Still fast paced, insight into military tactics and mindset, but not as endearing as the WWII series.

Quick pace

This was a refreshing story and interesting perspective with reference to the actors. As a Navy Pilot, I enjoyed its authenticity.

Great story pro/con of War

Book was a lot of fun. Written as a pseudo memoir. Doesn't do a ton of explaining of procedure and equipment but it isn't written to need a lot either

Good casual read

Dream book, having spent time a on a naval ship very accurate portal as far as I can tell from the enlisted side. Realistic fiction.

I seldom write a full review, but if you want something very entertaining this is it. Read very well on audible

Great entertainment

It is an entertaing series. it contains some mistakes that will make you cringe a bit if you are a bit familiar with aviation lingo and procedures but it is still enjoyable.

But I miss the dialogues and character development you can find on the crash dive or armor series from the same author. I enjoyed those books more.

Fun liste
