Great “Gaslight” with a Twist!

This was my first K.L. Slater book. It had wonderful suspense. It truly reminded me of the classic movie Gaslight, but with a twist. I certainly didn’t guess whodunnit. I’ll definitely be reading/listening to another! I feel a psychological thriller/suspense binge coming on. I truly loved Tuppence Middleton’s narration, with the exception of little Skye’s voice. She did so well with the rest, I hesitate to criticize. Yet, Skye sounded more like an evil old lady than a young girl. I even got a second and a third opinion in my household. My husband said he didn’t know about evil, but definitely old. My son said “old witch.” That’s probably the best description. She did such an amazing job otherwise, I eventually didn’t even notice quite as much. It’s beyond me how any of the narrators keep the voices straight when switching back and forth. I often wondered if they read each voice separately and they were then all put together. Yet, there’s a wonderful video of her recording the book, and she read right through it, switching voices before my eyes. I’d certainly recommend this one!

Not my cup of tea

Long, dragged. I could not get into it and British mysteries are my thing. I was super stoked to buy this but did not enjoy it much. Disappointed

Solid 2.5-3 read

Interesting psychological thriller that uses a mother and her child as the focal parts for the story. I thought the author did a very good job in describing the characters and the narration quality allowed you to be drawn right into the story. My only negative were the flashbacks to the past. It wasn't until the last third of the book, did I start to understand the impact and usage of the flashbacks. If the author could have developed why the flashbacks were needed earlier, for me that would have helped where I felt the story went off point.

Pretty good

The story was interesting, had some nice twists. The narration was good except for the voice the narrator used for the girl. That drove me crazy and I found myself making faces every time she spoke. It almost ruined the book.

Love this book!!!

So many twists and turns. I didn’t want to stop listening to it, even at the end. Narrator was excellent.! I recommend this book and would read/listen to it again!

Interesting idea but kind of simple. I think it could have been longer/more involved and it would have had more of an impact. Ended quickly and neatly too.

Yes a Psychologist Thriller

This is the third book I have read by Ms Slater. It’s everything a psychological thriller should be. It was scary, I definitely couldn’t predict the ending and I am left shaken. I think that I am going back to plain mysteries or even romantic suspense.
