About this listen
Making sense of men's evolution... The stages of development describe the lifelong process by which a man's sense of self evolves. Predictable and unavoidable, these stages determine what men live for and what they can't live without. Understanding the differences between knights, princes, and kings is critical for success in romantic relationships, raising sons, and working effectively with men.
In this intimate conversation you'll learn:
- What men can and cannot provide at each stage
- How to avoid the tragic mistakes women make
- What's really happening during a "mid-life crisis"
- What makes a man "ready" for relationship, marriage, and children
- The importance of adventure to men of all ages
Plus much more!

Story
Why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can't remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? These and other questions have stumped both sexes throughout the ages. Now, pioneering neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine, M.D., brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think and what they value.

Story
From the author of the groundbreaking New York Times bestseller The Female Brain, here is the eagerly awaited follow-up book that demystifies the puzzling male brain.
Dr. Louann Brizendine, the founder of the first clinic in the country to study gender differences in brain, behavior, and hormones, turns her attention to the male brain, showing how, through every phase of life, the "male reality" is fundamentally different from the female one. Exploring the latest breakthroughs in male psychology and neurology with her trademark accessibility and candor, she reveals that the male brain:
*is a lean, mean, problem-solving machine. Faced with a personal problem, a man will use his analytical brain structures, not his emotional ones, to find a solution.
*thrives under competition, instinctively plays rough and is obsessed with rank and hierarchy.
*has an area for sexual pursuit that is 2.5 times larger than the female brain, consuming him with sexual fantasies about female body parts.
*experiences such a massive increase in testosterone at puberty that he perceive others' faces to be more aggressive.
The Male Brain finally overturns the stereotypes. Impeccably researched and at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge, this is a book that every man, and especially every woman bedeviled by a man, will need to own.
Praise for The Female Brain:
"Louann Brizendine has done a great favor for every man who wants to understand the puzzling women in his life. A breezy and enlightening guide to women and a must-read for men."
—Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Many men are questioning who they are and what roles they fulfill in life - as a male, a husband, and a father - leaving them frustrated and causing them to live far below their potential.

Illuminating, but...
This is my re-engagement with Alison's work. I discovered her about 3.5 years ago with "The Queen's Code", which I loved, and subsequently went back for "Keys to the Kingdom". As a woman, I find her work invaluable and very helpful in "making sense of men". As she explains, you can continue to suffer or you can use this knowledge to ease the way. However, the piece that's always been missing for me is the real issue of personal responsibility. Somehow her work gives men AND women an "out". Kinda like, "...it's just how I'm built, it's what I gotta do..." Yet, as spiritual beings having an human experience, aren't we called to transcend our primitive instincts and do our best to act in regards to not just our higher good, but the higher good of those we love/care about? A man recognizing that he is compelled to build & has little energy (physical, emotional or mental) for nothing else should rightly choose to be alone while he works his way through his development. Why seek out or encourage relationships if you can't sustain them? That's not serving the other person's/people's best interests.

Fantastic introduction!
I couldn't wait to listen all the way through. Alison Armstrong is witty, fun, light-hearted and simply hilarious. I absolutely loved listening. I gave it a 4/5 overall because I wish there was more information with tactics on using the information, but for an overall big picture perspective view, it did it's job and in a really fun way.
So excited to listen to the next audio I've already purchased, Understanding Women! XOXO 💜
