Surprised!

Lately I have come to dislike the term Isekaid as the stories just feel like the same book thrown into an AI wood chipper. I almost didn't get this book because of it .
However, this was fun. The MC has to learn along the way and feels human. Secrets must be kept and characters have consequences on the line.
5 star.

Great story idea, but could be better

This story was a really good idea and the narrator does an excellent job with what he has, but there are some poor translation choices or perhaps editing choices that hurt the story overall. The story and the narrator's performance were good enough that I want to know what happens in book 2, but I wish they would edit the text a little better and have a native speaker check the translation.

Excellent book

Excellent story, though I think they spent a little too much time on the villains perspective. I know it was all to set up for future books, but still. The main character story was excellent, and this is the first time I have ever seen a western alchemist properly represented in story. Alchemist out of Weston history was not just someone who worked with chemicals. Western alchemist were ones that made golems, magic mirrors and philosopher stones. They were the medieval equivalent to mad scientist or mad geniuses, if you like.

Great first story, got me hooked.

This was a great first story and glad there are at least four others ready to go.

slice of life isekai

Thought it was a good story, it was not what I expected. It did not follow the normal formula for isekai stories. It really did not have much in the way of alchemy but it had more about rune magic. At times, especially the last hour or so, it was boring. What I liked about it was the mc was not too overpowered at the start, did not have it easy, and not stuck on vengeance. It is the first book of a series so the world building was expected. It seems the second book will be about academy life so I will be looking forward it.

Sergy really??

You would think that a Russian author would pick a narrator that could pronounce the name Sergei. I cringed every time I heard him say Sergy. Other than that he did okay.

I can't wait to the second book comes out this was very good the storyline went perfectly they had drama a little bit of action a good storyline I can't wait for the second book the narrator was very good too

Everything

To be fair I was looking for an alchemy story. Well I found one, though the main skill is alchemy it had a wonderful tale of rebirth, use of knowledge, and ability to adapt and a will to strive for normalcy because of prior situations. I think my favorite part is (SPOILER) him not being truly overpowered, not striving for power or trying to anything but normal. The fact that he had such a hard life before and wanting a normal existence and willingly go to school to learn more and enjoy and even though he was an older person in his past life he didn’t let it affect his love life and finding someone his body age.

Total accident buying the audio. Ended up loving it! Can't wait to listen to more.

Great ideas and world building but lost momentum

The idea of this story is captivating and really fun Add in the world building with magics, demons, and alchemy.

but then the story gets weird, slow, and just gets lost. i got the next few titles in the series because it hooked me but now I'm unsure if id want to continue listening.
