About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author of the Cotton Malone series comes a thrilling, action-packed historical adventure that sends Luke Daniels on an international manhunt for the truth about the assassination of President John Kennedy.

Luke Daniels is in London, between assignments with the Magellan Billet, when he receives a frantic call from an old friend. Jillian Stein is in trouble. She made a mistake and now her life may be in danger. She needs Luke’s help. Immediately. Racing to Belgium Luke quickly finds that she was right. A shadow team of highly-trained operatives are there on the hunt. Intervening, he finds himself embroiled in a war between two determined sides—one seeking the truth, the other trying to escape the past—a war that has already claimed one life and is about to claim more.

Thomas Rowland is a Washington insider, a kingmaker, problem-solver, but also a man with a past. For him everything turns with what happened on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. What history has recorded is wrong. There is more to the story, much more, and Thomas Rowland is at the center of that terrible reality. But forces are working against him, and Rowland will do anything to keep the world from learning what actually happened on that fateful day, including killing Luke, Jillian and anyone else who might be a threat.

In a race from Belgium, to Luxembourg, to the bayous of Louisiana and the Wyoming wilderness, to a final confrontation in the Bahamas, Luke Daniels confronts a series of shocking truths which not only rewrite history but will forever change his own life—as he comes face to face with the ninth man.

I listened to this book. It was non stop action
Luke is larger than life.

The story is a little far fetched but interesting

Enjoyed.

It took me a long time to see the end coming. It was very entertaining.

Finally, a story that doesn’t have to have a cuss word in every sentence. I appreciate that.

The book kept you guessing

I remember this tragic part of history. I also know of some of the "theories" peoplehave put out there. this one, well it's more beekeeping
believable than most others, like I said "makes you think"

I thought the story was pretty good and kept you on your toes. Although I usually love Scott Brick as a narrator this time he was a little bit too much… kind of overly dramatic! Sometimes that made it hard to concentrate on the story.

I usually love Scott Brick but…

This book was such a disappointment. It is literally one chase after another, the bad guys after the good guys. Only a few chapters in the book deal with the Kennedy issue. The rest is just guns and getting chased through the city and getting chased through the woods—to the point that it is tiresome. I like an action pack novel, but this is all action and very little storyline.

All Action with Little Substance

This book is excellent. A lot of the information is true and a lot of it is fiction. I didn’t want to put it down.

Great story and reader

Good listen. Love Scott Brick and why I got the book. Luke is a likable character and will most likely listen to more of the series.

Radder lungs. Still giggling about that!

I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for this book. It was just OK. I know a lot of people enjoy this narrator, but I had a very hard time, figuring out which character was which, because he didn’t change his voice a whole lot for the different characters, especially the men. I found myself rewinding a lot because I couldn’t figure out what happened. I finally gave up, trying to follow it all and listened to the end, but as the title of my review says, I was disappointed.

Disappointed

Always loved the Luke Daniels character and this book did him proud. Loved the storyline and subject matter. Scott Brick is always awesome as the narrator. Highly recommend this book as well as all Steve Berry’s books!
