The references to the army gave me the chills

Lots of valuable learning for me in Charlie's book. But every time the author spoke about his experiences in the U.S. Army, it gave me chills. Probably, from the author's point of view, when he was part of the army, he was contributing to a good cause. From my point of view, he was contributing to missions that killed thousands of people and seriously damaged the infrastructure of a region, so that the United States could have more power and benefit from the region's oil. From my point of view it's siniester. I would encourage him to get informed from sources beyond main stream media, and not to talk about shuch siniester endevours as if they were just a normal part of life.
