About this listen

Christianity is a surprising religion. It has changed the world in remarkable ways throughout history simply through Christians living out their faith. More recently, we've become afraid of a habituated Christianity, thinking that routines will rob our faith of its vitality. The net effect is that we've replaced the habits that surprise the world with habits that mimic the world―and both we and the world suffer for it.

Integrating the five habits in the BELLS model - Bless others, Eat together, Listen to the Spirit, Learn Christ, and understand yourself as Sent by God into others' lives - will help you spread the gospel organically, graciously, and surprisingly.

Michael Frost, a world-renowned expert on evangelism and discipleship, makes evangelism a lifestyle that is fulfilling, exciting, effective, and easy to live out!

good but author needed to make clear his worldview

This book has left me with much to ponder as a pastor and church planter. However, as a queer Christian, I was blindsided when Frost threw in a comment that conflated the LGBTQ community with those who are not Christians. These categories do not necessarily overlap and I was frustrated that the author hadn't owned his worldview earlier in the book.

short sweet advice

Thanks(sarcastically) to benedictine monasticism and islam we need to learn rules for everything. Thankfully (sincerely) apostolicity and Christ centered motives govern these 5.

Helpful, practical discipleship resource

Great book for thinking through how you live out your faith, and easy to imagine how this can be used in a small group setting. Five simple areas of personal self-assessment, new goal setting, and accountability.

Excellent tool!!

Clear and doable. Just finished, but I have already invited someone to be part of a triad and will share this with my pastor! Simple to remember, enjoyable to implement, life-changing for all. That’s what I’m anticipating. Thank you!!!

Hoping for for Biblical Support

The first two habits seem well supported by New Testament example but when he brings up listening to the Spirit I was hoping for a New Testament insight and didn’t really get that. Listening to the Spirit IS reading the Bible so, to me, habits 3 and 4 were two parts of the same habit.
