About this listen

Nominated, 2019 Audie Awards - Best Male Narrator

Meet Threadbare. He is 12 inches tall, full of fluff, and really, really bad at being a hero.

Magically animated and discarded by his maker as a failed experiment, he is saved by a little girl. But she's got problems of her own, and he might not be able to help her.

Fortunately for the little golem, he's quick to find allies, learn skills, gain levels, and survive horrible predicaments. Which is good, because his creator has a whole lot of enemies …

Warning: Contains profanity and violence.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Another great LitRPG, and more humorous than most.

This book was great! It allows you to discover a fun new world alongside the protagonist, and really gets you to identify with him. It's full of silliness and ridiculousness that still feels natural together, and mocks RPGs just the right amount to get you laughing out loud. It has charming relationships, and some good twists, and what looks like it will be a promising series-long story arc. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and if you have enjoyed any LitRPGs before, then you'll definitely enjoy this one.

very good, creative, story and very original

Edit: THIS SERIES IS NOT FOR KIDS!!! The first book is clean enough. And it masquerades itself as a kids book, but the second book is WAY more inappropriate and THE THIRD BOOK IS R RATED!!

Original review: The story is great. The protagonist is fantastic. Teddy bear as a protagonist is incredibly original of an idea, and it works perfectly for the story.

the narrator's voice is a bit jarring when you first listen to it, but after a short while, it grows on you and his narration is really good. Much better than the sample makes him sound.

Delightfully innocent and engaging

So very surprised by this book. It’s at the same time adorable and gritty - a difficult feat and executed flawlessly. Give it a chance and be absolutely obsessed by the first chapter. Plus there are two more books in the series on audible, so you can binge! 10/10 already bought the other two.

Yes yes YES! 🙌 👏

This book. Such a unique concept first and foremost. Seiple shows the depth of his creativity simply by coming up with the idea of an animated teddy bear golem who ends up becoming an adventuring powerhouse. Beyond that, the execution was flawless. TGR completely OWNS this performance (as always) like it was written with him specifically in mind.
The character development is key and this being the first book our hero teddy gradually comes into a state of conscience thought by being thrown into manic situation after manic situation because of, unbeknownst to him, his dreadfully low luck score. Through fate or some other unknown force he winds up in the care of the sweetest little girl ever and while growing in his power, levels and knowledge he becomes endeared to her and would do anything to make her happy. The innocence and cuteness of these characters is almost tooo much! Its so great. This author has some real talent writing such believable inner dialog for a basically newborn creature trying to figure things out pretty much through a trial by fire. He just toddles along making his way through obstacle after obstacle not knowing how improbable it is that he lived through any of it. Hes just so innocent and adorable that things just seem to work out. Such a great book. Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys litRPGs or loves cute lil teddy bears that are awesome

Great fun, Great performance. Highly recommend.

LitRPG about an awakened teddy bear trying to survive and protect his little girl in a dangerous world he is trying to make sense of. Just as cute and as much fun as it sounds like. I definitely recommend it.

Fantastic Concept for a LitRPG

A really fun take on the LitRPG genre. The later books in the series lag a bit- but this one is definitely worth a listen.

Lots of fun and laughs

good book, well written, well thought out. I enjoyed the jobs scheme, pretty cool idea. not sure that all the stat bumps should happen so fast, but why not? it's not my world.

this story of a young girl and her toy golem was pretty funny. the premise was something I hadn't seen before and enjoyed it. I really liked the reasoning behind why the wizard thought he was failing. it seems logical. perhaps someone as smart as he was would have figured it out a little faster... but whatever. interesting read, with a good plot. TGR's performance was excellent, as usual.
