Acerca de esta escucha

Peter Pan meets Groundhog Day when 11-year-old Jackson makes a birthday wish about never growing up that mysteriously comes true.

On his 11th birthday, Jackson is nervous about moving up to middle school where he knows he'll be bullied by older kids, so he makes his wish, "I don't want to grow up!" When his 12th birthday rolls around, he discovers his wish came true: he's still 11, and he’s starting fifth grade (again). At first, this is the perfect life. Jackson is the smartest kid in his class, the best on his baseball team, and the star of the school band. But after a few years of being 11, he realizes his life is passing him by. His little sister is suddenly his big sister, his former friends are driving, everyone else is growing older but he's still living the same fifth grade life. Will Jackson ever figure out how to grow up or will he remain Stuck?

Great kids book. It’s the stuffed potato!

This month’s Audible freebies are really knocking it out of the park for zippy, fun listens that also painlessly sneak in life lessons and deeper meaning. The narration is excellent here, fitting the tone of an 11 year old Jackson who finds himself reliving the year, and the 5th grade, over and over again, while the rest of the world moves on. Time travel plots often give me a headache, but this one went down easy. The only cultural/religious aspect to this book is the Hindu concept of nonlinear time. This book is free of politics, sex, and profanity and contains mild treatment of bullying, aging, and death. I find it perfect for kids 10 and up.

My favorite part is the changing slang as time moves forward. I’m going to start working “it’s the stuffed potato” into my catch phrases, because “it’s the bees knees” really makes no sense.

Charming - Peter Pan mixed with Groundhog Day

This story teaches the reader to think of others before themselves. Themes are to be careful what you wish for, and change is nothing to be afraid of. Change is actually good, and we should appreciate it and look forward to it! The voice actors and sound affects are great. It's charming and whimsical. Fun for the whole family.

Loved it!

Okay, so it’s a kid’s story. But, as an adult, I fully enjoyed it. It would be a great story for a car trip with kids!

Loved It!

This could be described best as Groundhog Day for preteens. Except the main character repeats 5th grade. The story is refreshing and heartwarming. The cast is wonderful! I would to hear more. Thanks for writing this. Thanks for publishing this :)

It really is an awesome story!

STUCK is a nice twist on the looping time story. I enjoyed the plot and the performances from the narrator and the supporting cast members. I am not one to write reviews but felt compelled to voice admiration for "Stuck," it's plot, timing, and for the performance. This really is a fun book and it doesn't take long to listen. In fact for me it was the perfect escape. I started imagining myself in Jackson's predicament and the choices that I might make, and how I might have done things differently,; then again I remember when I was in 5th grade I wasn't known to make the most enlightened decisions myself either. In fact I still don't make the most brilliant decisions and I am much much older but not that much wiser.
