A methodical mystery

The story remains captivating while slowly unveiling clue after clue. Eerie, engaging and I won’t ever forget those “thunks”.

An OK mystery-drama

I feel like this book is overhyped. Bad pop- psychology, mediocre murder mystery elements, just didn’t find it impressive. It’s not bad, just not horror, and not the impressive IMO

Make a cheat sheet of characters!

Damn - I might have to get “Strange Houses” soon. This was a super quick and engaging read. You definitely need to have the ability to suspend belief and let some impossible things go. If you are easygoing in that regard and go into this book for the sole purpose of entertainment, then it will be a worthwhile read. I liked the unique touch with the pictures and the unfolding connections throughout the story. I did have trouble remembering all the characters and who was who which is almost impossible to keep track of via audiobook.

For the faint of heart.

Let me preface this by saying that I have no idea who this YouTuber is. I know nothing about them. I was looking for creepy books and this was a new release. I like to go into things blind so I didn't know this was written by a YouTuber until after I purchased it.

There really isn't anything interesting about this book but it also doesn't deserve a 1 star review. Either the translator did a mediocre job or the book was written for middle schoolers.

The person reading the book wasn't for me. I didn't like his voice acting and he couldn't pronounce the word "crayon" correctly.

It's like those green tinted Japamese horror movies

If youre a fan of vaguely creepy, atmospheric, kids of green tinted, Japanese horror movies (and if you know what iI mean by that, you are my people) then you will likely enjoy this book.

There's a couple solid twists, along with horror elements (but I don't think it ever gets THAT scary -like, if you can watch the ring this book won't ever bee too much for you - but there's enough there for horror fans to enjoy) and definitely parts that fall right into thriller territory.

Definitely dont sleep on having the pdf around so you can reference the pictures as they happen in the story.

I'll be grabbing Uketsu's new novel next time I have a spare credit.

Boring

Story is slow and boring. The review I read called this suspenseful and a work of horror. I guess whoever wrote that is a fan of Goosebumps. Pass on this one unless you need something to help you fall asleep.
