Publisher's summary

Quincy Harker is back, and the stakes are higher than ever. The fate of the world rests on the shoulders of a swearing, drinking, misanthropic half-vampire with a bad attitude and an itchy trigger finger. Harker and his team of misfits have just a few days to prevent the actual end of the world, as a group of fanatics have kidnapped a young man thought to possess the power to open the Seven Seals.

He's Bad, He's Back.

Where does Straight to Hell rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's right up there with the best. Quincy Harker has a lot of action and a lot of tension between the characters, all of it fast paced and fun. From Baptists to bikers to Mrs. Obama, everyone gets into the act, which just might be the last act for us all. Flynn and Q come to a better undertstanding that opens the door for many more interesting adventures as they save the world from itself.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Q is adorable, of course, all macho and magical with his big guns and unusual hardware abilities. But underneath that is the kind of heart we all hope that we have, able to off a baddy in a moment yet give a henchman a chance for redemption, even if said henchman does not take the hint. Renfield is fun too, and I'd love to hear a story about him.

What about James Foster’s performance did you like?

I liked the pacing of the story and the tone of voice, no fake Southern accent, but straightforward story reading. The changes of voice for characters was not forced but simple to follow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I listened to it in one day while I was doing some Christmas crafting. Very entertaining.

Any additional comments?

John Hartness has just the right mix of sarcasm, irreverence, and downhome values.

Enjoyable continuation of Quincy Harker escapades

Quincy takes on the Four Housemen with nicely developed companions wrapped into a neat novella. Still more foul language than I prefer or that is needed, but I recommend this as terrific escape entertainment.

Excellent addition to the Demon Hunter series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I very much enjoyed this book, as well as this series and James Foster reading it.

Which character – as performed by James Foster – was your favorite?

The uncle's man-servant is pretty cool. Has some unexpected talents that add a little more interest to the story

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, and I tried too lol. It's good motivation to stay at the gym

Any additional comments?

This series very much reminds me of the Dresden Files, but with darker, more adult content. Not too much darker, but enough that it seems more interesting to me

Quincy is Back!!!

Another hit for John G. Hartness and James Foster!

This is a fast paced, action packed supernatural/horror that made me laugh more times than I can count.

I loved the first book, Raising Hell, so much and I was thrilled when I saw the second installment had been released on Audible. Quincy is back with his foul mouth and major snark. Man, I have it bad for Quincy Harker. The man takes no prisoners and tells it exactly the way he sees it, feelings and political correctness be damned. His moral compass is somewhat different than us mere mortals and, while he doesn't hesitate kick ass or eliminate any problems, he is a good person at heart. Quincy now works for the paranormal division of the government and he is partnered with Rebecca Flynn. Their, once antagonistic, relationship is continuously evolving and we learn how Q is tied to something integral in Flynn’s past.

James Foster’s narration is what seals this as a five-star read for me. His range is excellent and each character is easily distinguish with their own voice. I can’t wait to listen to the next installment!

Entertaining

Not a super intellectual series of stories, but a decent set of stories that I find I like to listen to.
Granted, there are a huge assortment of this type of sort of genre, but this one works for me. Just need to make each story longer.

Every scene reveal something new about Quincy

I really enjoyed the first book in the Demon Hunter series, Raising Hell, so I jumped at the chance to review Straight to Hell. Quincy Harker does have some similarities to Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files. If you enjoyed the Dresden Files, the Demon Hunter series will pull in you.

Quincy Harker is still the same Quincy we met in Raising Hell, profane and attitude laden.
The big change in Quincy’s world is Rebecca Flynn, the cop whose main goal was arresting him, is now his partner and they are both working for Homeland Security. This installment of the Demon Hunter series explains why Quincy has tolerated Rebecca instead of feeding her to his Uncle Luke. It also has flashbacks that illustrate what his life was like before and after he came to live with his Uncle Luke. His teenage experiments in exactly what it takes to wake a vampire during daylight are hilarious. The centerpiece of this story is protecting a direct descendent of David (you know, got in a fight with a Philistine named Goliath, that David) who has the power to bring about the end of the work by breaking the mythical seven seals as detailed in the Book of Revelations.

Again as with the first book, the pacing was fast. Every scene taught us something new about Quincy or Rebecca and helped develop their characters. James Foster did another excellent job narrating it. If you have not had an opportunity to sample Mr. Foster’s work, the Demon Hunter series is a great place to start. He does male and female characters equally well. He brings attitude where it is needed and drops the room temperature a good twenty degrees when Uncle Luke speaks (creepy on so many levels). The production values were excellent.

I have purchased all three Quincy Harker novellas on Amazon. As soon as Mr. Foster narrates the third one for Audible, I will pick that up also.

Fast paced, action packed, funny as hell!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh absolutely!

You get to cross many genres with these, have fun doing it, and make references to pop culture in the weirdest places, but somehow it makes sense!

Who was your favorite character and why?

You'd have to go with Quincy Harker, I mean, he's the titular character. If you don't like him, then you probably won't like the book.

What does James Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Charm, snarky voicing and wonderful comedic timing!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really, it was all just a quick roller coaster ride that was fun to listen to!

Any additional comments?

Kept me entertained on the long boring treadmill runs during my IM 70.3 training. Where else can you find references to NWA's Four Horsemen, Monday Night Raw, and Star Wars??

Super series to listen to.

I really loved this whole series. How can you pass up a supernatural detective novel dealing with the four horsemen of the apocalypse. With his uncle being Vlad the Impaler.
Harder being my favorite character along

The Series Gets better every time!

Quincy Harker, Son of Jonathan and Mina Harker, "Nephew" of Dracula, and all around badass demon hunter, is facing off with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalyse, or at least their avatars, which are pretty badass themselves. Working with his former nemesis in the Police department for a shadowy government agency, they need to basically stop the end of the world. No pressure though. The plot is fast paced, the action sequences are excellent and pulse pounding, and thecharacters are well written, with the dialogue between characters being snappy, serious and hilarious in turn. Any fan of urban fantasy should really enjoy this series. James Foster does an outstanding job narrating, bringing each individual character to life, really getting you invested in them.

I was given a copy of this book by the narrator for free in return for an honest review through Audiobookblast dot com.
