Story good but.Speed up your listening speed

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Thought the story line started slow it made sense after you getting further in the plot.I increased the narrator speed and was more comfortable with listening. I will listen again, I also bought book 2 and ,. with the same narrator plan to speed up those also.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Slow Slow Slow

Was Storm Warning worth the listening time?

Once the narrator was speeded up.

good, not as great as others

I enjoyed this book, but probably just because I'd already read the prequel trilogies. alone this book wouldn't have been as entertaining, but I enjoyed it nonetheless

a good tale with a distracting performance

The book itself is a good part of the whole Valdemaran tale; but, the storyteller this time is far less than I have come to expect related to these books. His voice is pleasant and mode of reading is decent, but he has changed the pronunciation of many names, cultures, places, peoples, etc. Add in the overdramatized and totally changed speech style he gives to various characters, the Performer himself becomes a distraction to the story.

A new Performer should be required to listen to the most recent story, at least, to maintain basics like pronunciations and speech styles for characters.

no herald?

the story is a good one but I was disappointed. I was looking forward to reading about heralds and companions and there were none in this book.

Narration is odd

The story is one I've read multiple times and love, so this review is for the narration.

The narrator has very odd pauses in his reading that occasionally cause inappropriate emphasis. Also there are words that are pronounced incorrectly. In addition, the voices he does for the non-human characters don't fit with their personalities. I think, with more direction he could have done better.

research people

the author for these books makes available proper pronunciation. also you really should at least listen through and make sure that you don't make simple mistakes throughout the entire book. if it wasn't for the fact that I adore the book series itself I never be able to make it through.

Story is great, production, not so much.

I love the world and stories absolutely. However, this is a much older production than any of the other books in the world available in Audible and it shows. There are repetitions in sentences at times (errors in audio editing) and the pronounciations don't follow the other books at all and do not follow the author's indication of what they are, either. That makes the book hard enough to listen to without the very old style of the narrator/production with the dramatic reading but really odd, sometimes badly done, and often inconsistent character voices. I won't be buying the other audiobooks and will be rereading the print books even if it means I can't review the series while in the car. I really need a palate cleanser after this production.

narrator needs to speed up

Any additional comments?

I love this book and was happy to see it available in Audible but this narrator is horrible! He is so slow that I have had to speed up the narration to 1 1/2 X normal speed in order to listen to it.
