This is an okay but mostly forgettable story that was mainly written to fill a plot hole in rise of Skywalker. I think that it's a good bit of world building and shows us how the new republic was slowly gaining stability after the galactic Civil War. Nor much of note after that. The narrator struggled to do a Poe Dameron impression that was passable. He also butchered babu frik, however, I think most would too. it was definitely just an eeh story.

This wasn’t the absolute best, but it was enjoyable. Definitely worth a credit. Production and narration were excellent.

a good listen. a book that once again ties up a loose end left out of the movies. Poe's voice is a tough one to duplicate. inflection and tone were clise byt not quite. still a really solid 5 star performance though

poes voice is tough to imitate

The story is about Poe growing up on Yavin and leaving home as a rebellious teenager. I love Poe because he knows how to fight and defend himself. He knows the difference between good and bad. The story seamed real to me when I was listening to it. The audio book had John Williams music from the movies. The narrator made the story seem real. I didn’t want to quit listening to the story but I had other schoolwork to do. I had a lot of fun listening to the story. I recommend it to all ages.

The background music and sound effects were obnoxious and distracting. At times it was difficult to hear the actual reading.

So, if anyone is a fan of the sequel trilogy, they will enjoy this book. This delves into Poe Dameron's early life, from his Luke Skywalker-ish upbringing on Yavin 4 (location of Rebel base in Rogue One and A New Hope) with a single parent who refuses to let him fly, to his fleeing with the spice-runners of Kijimi. Zorii Bliss is a major player in this story, and we learn a lot more about her during the course of this story, while also getting to know more about Poe's family. It seems that like Owen Lars, Cass Dameron couldn't accept that his kid wasn't a little child anymore. Even Babu Frik shows up! The narration was quite good, although I haven't heard Sean Elias-Reyes before. At times, it seemed he was trying to rush the dialogue or just speak rapidly. I don't know why, but whenever he did this, it reminded me of Robin Williams (? /8-. ) That's why I gave the performance 4 stars. However, it is a solid addition to the continuing saga. I enjoyed it a good deal, and hope you will too.

Poe Dameron's Origin Story

Sure, the sequel trilogy was a bit of a hot mess. But it gave us the perfection that is Poe Dameron, so I’m okay with that.

I enjoyed how Poe acted like an impulsive teen who got himself in trouble but always had his moral compass intact. I hope we get some more books with him. The narrator also did an excellent job.

Overall a decent story that I do recommend folks listen to. It was entertaining for sure. I do feel there could have been a bit more depth to it. It should have spanned several years and had a ton more missions together before culminating on the ending. Maybe really pushed more romance between the two leads. I didn’t feel they gave Poe enough reason to stay with the spice runners because they didn’t go far enough into his feelings for Zorii. That needed more build up.

Needed a little bit more depth…
