romance in space

it is a simple love story, filled with every cliche, and enough star wars to fill the gaps. normally I wouldn't recommend this kind of book, but the two lovers captured my 30 year old heart.

Would like more seedy underbelly

I was hoping for more of a scum and villainy story. Although there was a under surface of scoundrels; this is really a teen age love story. Well written, but not what I was hoping to immerse myself in.

To me, there is nothing better than a Star Wars book with a heart. This is one of the best I’ve experienced in a while, incorporating both the Star Wars universe and a heartfelt story that will bring a tear to your eye. Expertly read by Brittany Pressley. I can’t wait to enjoy it again!

One of my least favorite SW novels

Just okay story. The performances put me to sleep more than once. The music that played often was over powering and didn't always match the scene resulting in being a distraction.

Teen Romance, with a Star Wars backdrop

I rarely ever write reviews for audiobooks, or novels. I read over 200 books a year. I have literally read every single Star Wars novel published, even all the new canon for young adults, since most of them all are very good. A Crash of Fate however, although wonderly written, was very captivating...is simply a teen romance of 8 hrs and/or 347 pages set in a Star wars setting. Literally if a few 'Star Wars' terms were left out of the prose, it could simply be any new science fiction setting. Honestly this book could be Star wars fan fiction. It is simply a cliched story of 2 little kids(6 years old) separated from each other, finding each other again by kismethe 13 years later and falling in love. The end. Yeah you heard it right...6 years old...and then they are suddenly 19. If the author had their ages at age 10 or 11 at the time of separation, them hanging on to each other in memory would be FAR MORE PLAUSIBLE. There is little to no plot. What very little plot there is, is simply interwoven to make an actual story more 'Star Wars' with nefarious smugglers. Now HOWEVER, the audio version is fantastic. There is an entirely new cinematic musical addition here that I certainly don't ever remember hearing in any other Star Wars audio. There are several new musical landscapes/background-- for example, upbeat discoteque music in the club, or during the more romantic or sad scenes, a soft almost gut wrenching piano ballad. All I could keep wondering is where can I buy the soundtrack?? And Brittany Pressley does a FANTASTIC job in narration. I never once wanted to speed up the narration. I typically speed up Marc Thompson's narration to 1.33 because he READS.....SO.....SLOW, and it is the perfect cadence as well as with the sound effects.
Again, do not look to the story as anything earth shattering, or that even barely feels to fit in to a Star Wars Universe. Take away the Star Wars music, and the name drop of some planets, and it literally could be set in any sci fi setting with teen romance. You have been warned.

Where's the crash?

It was cool. Compared to other start wars books it was just ok. I'm gonna say I was in love with the book until towards the end. And then, it became pretty Twilight esque. I guess, if nothing else, this one could be the beginning of an epic saga that needed the craftily chosen backstory to give it deeper value.

Great work and I hope to listen to more

I would’ve liked to know more about the package they were transporting (fingers crossed kyber crystal). But other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this and the performance was amazing.

Where has this book been all my life!?!

Absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it! We need a sequel ASAP! Performance was incredible as well.

Beautiful Star Wars love story

I really like how the writer tells this entire story from two perspectives , alternating between Izzy and Jules while really maintaining the different tones that each character brings to the narrative. The sound engineering is also top notch, with excellent music and sfx that help bring the story to life. Not a must read, as it’s a real standalone story, but definitely worth a listen for the depth it brings to the world of batuu and the resistance era galaxy as a whole.

if you’re an “adult,” don’t be fooled by the YA label

not that reading level matters, but i picked this up thinking it was an “adult” companion book to galaxy’s edge. found it was actually YA, but was presently surprised. still edgy and is a perfect little star wars vignettes that is part of what made the 1rst season of the mandalorian so special. it features characters of color, too, so it’s rad that youngfolk of color are seeing themselves represented in the star wars universe!
