“A very Vineyard book...a great, moving read.” (Carly Simon)

Annie Tucker’s world is upended. She’s lost her favorite aunt, inherited a house and dog on Martha’s Vineyard, and now finds herself alone there with three small children while her husband is away. When she runs into her old boyfriend, she must confront the life she has chosen with the life she might have had.

This unforgettable novel weaves together themes of seduction, loss, and forgiveness with the power of love, family, and the ocean. Conjuring endearing characters on a charmed New England island, this is a treasure of a book.

“An intelligent, sensitive storyteller with a strong sense of place, vividly evoking the Vineyard’s residents, landmarks, and atmosphere...Eger writes dialogue, creates characters, and develops her tale with great skill.” (Kirkus Reviews)

“Eger’s prose is smooth and polished.” (Publishers Weekly)

A really lovely story

Feeling very moved after having finished this novel about love and growth in a beautiful setting. Eger does an excellent job at transporting the readers right into life on Martha's Vineyard in an authentic way that will leave you longing for your own summer on the Vineyard. The story so accurately depicts a person working through a glorified past love and what happens when they are faced with the reality of that in the present. Highly recommend!

Wonderfully written and hard to put down

This may have some chapters that aren’t going to keep you at the edge of your seat...like others...., but the story is so raw and honest and heartfelt, it keeps me wanting more, I could listen to 3 more books about Holly’s life, now I want to know what happened before, her life with Chase? And what happens in the future, her life with Gordon and her kids...!?
Great read!!

This book is exceptional -- don't miss it!

Holly Hodder Eger is a mesmerizing storyteller, and her reading of the book draws you in even further. I came to know each character intimately, and her use of the various settings advances the narrative perfectly. It was a highlight of my day when I could walk while listening to Holly's compelling voice.

Loved every word!!!

A story of present and past love, friendship, families, and a journey of self-awareness. The author does a phenomenal job of using beautiful descriptors to envision the scene. A summer in Martha’s Vineyard is now on the top of my bucket list, (although will avoid the crowds of August)as she describes in the book.

Lots of cliches

Would have been better had not every paragraph been full of corny lifetime movie moments.
