Publisher's summary

Nothing could have prepared Caidence when her love - the man who saved her in more ways than one - left her.

The absurdity and terrible timing of the breakup left her confused and heartbroken, but with her already arduous internship, she was left with little time to cope. As far as she was concerned, distracting herself from her aching heart - instead of facing it - was working well.

But when Noah came into the emergency room with a deadly poison in his system, begging for Caidence’s help, how could she turn him down?

No amount of medical expertise could help her determine the poison, but time was running out, and Caidence was left with one option. She must get involved with the criminal affairs of Noah’s father - a man who was notoriously cruel and worse than even Noah’s murderous brother, Bruce.

With the help of Caidence’s best friend, she begins breaking every rule in the book to save the life of her former lover. But nobody could have anticipated the danger of her task, let alone the impossibility of obtaining the information she needs to save Noah.

Caidence will have to make an impossible choice - herself or the man she loves?

I love these so much because I never get bored.

I wish Caidence didn’t have to make the decision at the end, and I want to know it before the next book, but I have a feeling the author is going to drag it out. Overall, the storyteller was great! And the book itself couldn’t have been much better.

It was really a good book.

A cliffhanger if fine until there is no conclusion whatsoever. And there isn’t one. It’s so stressful not knowing anything of the ending, but it’s conclusive in a few ways. And knowing the danger of the story explains why it moved so fast, but I would have loved for it to be longer and for Caidence and Sam to immerse themselves in the danger.

A refreshing change.

This marks the biggest plot twist of all time—even in the beginning of the book! It’s not what I was expecting in this book. In fact, I was expecting a different kind of love story, but this might have been better. It showed what people do actually because of love, not the romantic side. It’s such a refreshing change and it makes for a freaking phenomenal story.

Great!

This book was great! It was a fast-paced, well-read, well-written book that really kept my heart and mind going just like the first one. I am a boxer so having an intense story like this is very intriguing to me!

Quite a riveting read, actually.

This is such a great story, but it is so hard to visualize accessory characters. I noticed that the author played on single qualities of characters. But this book is still amazing. I teared up at a few parts (especially reminiscing ones) and the ending—without any spoilers—has me looking for the next book immediately.

Waiting for the next series...

I just love how there is never a dull moment in any of these books. She is always faced with decisions that nobody would know how to make unless put in the position, and that is a scary and interesting reality of the book. I would love to read more about these characters and I am SO EXCITED for a later book to get past this insane cliff-hanger of an ending.

I still find it fascinating.

After the first book, I knew it was going to be short, but this one didn’t have as much dialog. And when there were character’s talking, a lot of the words didn’t necessarily match who characters should have been. More dialog is needed, but it was a really fascinating story.

I'm excited for the next book!

The cliff hanger has me NEEDING the next book immediately. Not only is this book told in first person, which is my favorite perspective of a story, but it also refreshing and different. It isn’t the typical boy and girl fall in love and the boy protects the girl. It is completely opposite and so great.

The pacing's quite fast.

I wish this book was a multi-day endeavor with reason and harder hitting plot twists, but that’s impossible to do in such a short story. It all went so fast and I didn’t get the shock factor expected when big twists occurred.
