About this listen

From the New York Times best-selling author of California Girls comes an all new original Blackberry Island novel told with Susan Mallery’s trademark humor and charm. Sisters by Choice is a heartfelt tale of love, family, and the friendships that see us through.

Cousins by chance, sisters by choice...

After her cat toy empire goes up in flames, Sophie Lane returns to Blackberry Island, determined to rebuild. Until small-town life reveals a big problem: She can’t grow unless she learns to let go. If Sophie relaxes her grip even a little, she might lose everything. Or she might finally be free to reach for the happiness and love that have eluded her for so long.

Kristine has become defined by her relationship to others. She’s a wife, a mom. As much as she adores her husband and sons, she wants something for herself - a sweet little bakery just off the waterfront. She knew changing the rules wouldn’t be easy, but she never imagined she might have to choose between her marriage and her dreams.

Like the mainland on the horizon, Heather’s goals seem beyond her grasp. Every time she manages to save for college, her mother has another crisis. Can she break free, or will she be trapped in this tiny life forever?

Don’t miss Susan Mallery’s latest book, The Stepsisters! A heartfelt tale of friendship between two women who used to be sisters.

The Narrator can Speed

Great story. The narrator has a tendency to speak really quick. Slow down a little, please.

Love the author and story.

I’ve enjoyed reading this author for years. Great beach read. Has some depth but just late enough.

Wonderful listen

I started and stopped twice before I got into it. So glad I went back again. Friendship, family, relationships are all tested. I really was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book after having a rough start. It was quite a wonderful listen. Truly hopeful there is more to come in this series.

dysfunctional at all levels

Everybody is DISFUNCTIONAL without a prayer to improve themselves...I kept listening in hope that there would be an intelligent resolution, but alas, all I got was a headache

Sisters By choice

love this book but I will tell you it managed to press a lot of nerve buttons! sisters by choice is about three women who come together despite family dysfunctions, boyfriends, husbands, lovers and a very annoying toxic parent.

Great storyline

Really enjoyed this book. Characters were well developed and evolved through the story. Liked how story wove through to a satisfying conclusion for all characters.

I thought it was a robot narrating

I actually had to come look at the details to make sure it was a human. I was very surprised. Some lines would sound normal then there would be parts I was sure were digital. I would not recommend this narrated for anything.

First Susan Mallery book I don't like :-(

I don't think there has ever been a Susan Mallery book that I haven't enjoyed and I've read (listened to) probably at least 90% of them. I just could not like these characters. In the previous books from this series, I've disliked characters but then grow to love them by the end of the book. I can't stand how they handled Amber. I feel like the characters disappointed me and didn't learn anything. Tanya Eby was fabulous as always, but I just can't get past the plot.

Not what I expected.

This was my first experience with Susan Mallory. The story was just ok, really didn’t hold my interest. Unfortunately, I felt the narrator sounded like her voice was computer generated. Sorry to be harsh, but this is my honest review.
