About this listen

Meredith Martin Delinn just lost everything: Her friends, her homes, her social standing - because her husband Freddy cheated rich investors out of billions of dollars.

Desperate and facing homelessness, Meredith receives a call from her old best friend, Constance Flute. Connie's had recent worries of her own, and the two depart for a summer on Nantucket in an attempt to heal. But the island can't offer complete escape, and they're plagued by new and old troubles alike. When Connie's brother Toby - Meredith's high school boyfriend - arrives, Meredith must reconcile the differences between the life she is leading and the life she could have had.

Set against the backdrop of a Nantucket summer, Elin Hilderbrand delivers a suspenseful story of the power of friendship, the pull of love, and the beauty of forgiveness.

Critic reviews

“Clearly the Madoff family inspired this plot, but Hilderbrand gives it her own sun-kissed, optimistic spin - which is not to say it’s all Rosa rugosa, just that there’s a silver lining to the ugliest of circumstances.” (Elisabeth Egan, New York Times)

Really enjoyed the story, from
the very beginning all the way to end. Finished listening on the amazon echo, then asked Alexa to play the theme song from the book. Great way to finish this audio read!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh yes!! An easy enjoyable read with mystery, love, challenged relationships, danger and more; one of her best books.

What did you like best about this story?

The entire story line and how it was presented made me want to do a complete read!

What about Janet Metzger and Marianne Fraulo ’s performance did you like?

It was excellent!! Made me fall into the book and again feel a part of it!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Intriguing a must see!!

Any additional comments?

Elin Hilderbrand never disappoints me in any of her books. This has an intriguing mystery with Meredith and her husband a billionaire who finds himself in jail for 150 years. What happens to Meredith and her two boys? Meredith asks her a strangled but long time friend Connie if she can spend the summer with her on Nantucket. She accepts but what did Connie open herself up to; is it safe to have Meredith with her under the fact Meredith is under scrutiny of stealing also?

This is a great summer read filled with adventure, a broken relationships, lost husband and a strangled daughter along with new love. What happens when Meredith sees her long ago love Toby?

I loved this book; I could have read all night through. Easy read!!!

Another good one by Hilderbrand but I wasn’t a fan of the performance. Though characters were older, readers sounded too old.

Good story, not a fan of reader

*Silver Girl* by Elin Hilderbrand is a heartfelt novel about friendship, forgiveness, and starting over. After Meredith’s husband is exposed in a Ponzi scheme, her life falls apart, and she escapes to Nantucket with her estranged best friend, Connie. Both women are dealing with pain and loss, but they begin to heal and reconnect.

The Nantucket setting adds warmth and beauty, contrasting with the characters’ struggles and creating a perfect place for reflection. *Silver Girl* goes beyond being just a beach read, diving into themes of loyalty and resilience. It’s a moving story about rebuilding life and finding hope again.

nice story

Just wanted something not complicated to read on vacation to the beach. Kind of already new what the book was going to be about. Since the book was about the beach it was nice. Listening to the sounds of the beach and listing to this book it was great it all fit perfectly.

It took several chapters for me to really get into this book. After that it seemed to flow better.

Not my favorite

I really liked the story but the narrator bothered me a bit. I really like Erin Bennett, the narrator EH has used in her more recent books.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this novel. It is a story about all the different types of love you have in your life (romantic, friendship, family) and all the ups and downs that come with it. To me, it really delved deep into the characters’ emotions. And, I thought the ending was exactly what it should be—happy without being terribly unrealistic. If you’re looking for something a little bit more meaningful than your average romance novel, this may be the audiobook you’re looking for.
The narration wasn’t the best I’ve ever heard, but I thought it was still pretty good.
