About this listen

I moved to Chicago six months ago, determined to finally open my own bakery. My landlady was this sweet woman who treated me like her granddaughter.

Then she sold the house. Now the devil himself is my landlord and neighbor, since I live in the guesthouse on his property. Declan Maxwell is moody, unreasonable, and takes himself far too seriously. Unfortunately for me, he’s also damn sexy.

When he shows up on my doorstep in the middle of the night ordering me to turn down the music, I give him hell. Secretly, I’m also checking him out. We go toe-to-toe like this almost every night.

The man is impossible. But here’s the thing. I need a place to stay while I save for my business and this place is a steal. So, I need to put up with this handsome devil, though from a distance—because he’s far too gorgeous.

Then one day I come home injured from work and he surprises me by taking care of me. And kissing me. And just like that, all my best intentions go up in smoke.

Good…

continuation of the Maxwell brothers. My only complaint is that they fall in love a bit to quickly. And each brother goes on and on about how beautiful their love interest is. Story 3.5.

Entertaining story and narration

This is the third book in the latest series from Layla Hagen and was a great addition to the series. This is Declan Maxwell’s story and the woman who brought him to his knees, Elizabeth (Liz) Watson.
From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that Ms. Hagen wove. The chemistry between Declan and Liz was intense and the sparks certainly flew between them. This book was everything that I was hoping it would be.
I really enjoyed the development of their relationship and the love that they found together. The Maxwell family had me laughing out loud on a number of occasions, I just love the relationship and that they always have each others’ back and are all up in one anothers business.
When Liz is injured she is surprised when Declan volunteers to take care of her. After all most of their interactions have been fiery. I liked how sassy, feisty and determined Liz is to make a success of her bakery. Declan is swoon worthy and just like his brothers I fell for him quickly.
I fell hard and fast for Declan and Liz, they were well suited to one another. However it is the love and camaraderie among the Maxwell’s that really takes this book and series to another level.
Another great story from Layla Hagen and one that ticked all the boxes for me. The narration by Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood was engaging and they brought the story and characters to life for me.

Enjoyed all Maxwell Brother books

I liked this book w Taylor and Kendra. I just wish the voiceovers could go in tandem. So the voice actors only voice their parts. There were parts that the make voiceover should have read it. Both actors were very good,

Best of the series yet!

I am completely loving this series. Great characters and sweet stories. No major angst or dramatic surprises. Just the right amount of surprises and family chaos. Perfect summer listen. Can’t wait for the next books to come out. Hoping for 3 more for the remaining brothers and 2 for Rhys and Kimberly. Narrators were awesome - of course Jacob Morgan is one of my favorites and led me to finding the series to start with. Going to definitely check out other books by this author.

Great listen but a little slow.

Enjoyed this audiobook but it was a bit slow.
Seemed a bit too fairytale-like.
