Absolutely Enthralling

Have you ever binge watched your favorite series and when you finally get to the last episode, you feel a bit lost and sad that you have finished the series. That's how I felt after listening to the epic stories that make up this amazing audio book. I loved every story, so brilliantly told by Stephen Fry who is an absolute genius in his narrating. Rather than become old and dated, Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes is as clever and entertaining as he was when he first appeared on paper. I cannot state how much I enjoyed listening to these stories in the car, on my walks, while running, while cooking.. just whenever I could get away with having earphones attached to my head. This is the most worthwhile audio book I have ever bought!

"Wonderful! Wonderful!"

The books need no more reviews, but I would feel bad if I didn't say a few words about Stephen Fry's narration.

I came into this audiobook without having read any of the books/stories, but it has always been something on my to-do list. When I saw that Stephen Fry had narrated the books, I knew it would be the perfect purchase for my vacation. I had extremely high expectations going into the books, and I have to say that the expectations were easily met and surpassed! I'll borrow a quote from Dr. Watson to describe my feelings: "Wonderful! Wonderful!"

Stephen Fry makes the stories come to life! The narration of events is very smooth, the tones he sets fit perfectly with what's going on, but it's during the dialogues he truly shines! It's only natural to give the main characters more plain voices, but at the same time he manages to give them such huge characters. I can't help but smile at Dr. Watson's constant astonishment and admiration for Sherlock's reasoning and how well Stephen Fry portrays it, and every time we get a "Halloa!" from Sherlock my heart jumps in anticipation for what's about to happen. It's also incredible how well Stephen Fry manages to give every single minor character their own character and voice. Be it high or low, clean or snarly, Scottish, Irish or American, upper class or lowborn, he makes them all feel natural (to a non-native speaker, at least)!

I can definitely recommend picking up this audiobook! Arthur Conan Doyle's stories are great, and Stephen Fry's narration makes them even better!

They are so Realistic

After listening to this long "book" it is hard not to believe the Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson was never real individuals.I have to keep telling myself that its fiction.

It is worth a listen. Please make a plan and make time to listen to this collection of stories and books. Take a note that there are some stories related by Sherlock Holmes himself.

Stephen Fry's narration of the "book" is brilliant he provides a depth and colour to the characters of Dr Watson and Sherlock Holmes.

Wonderful stories, wonderfully rold

Stephen Fry must now be reckoned as no longer only a national treasure, but a truly international one. His bringing to life the wonderful, sometimes fantastic stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a joy from start to finish, augmented by his interesting and insightful forewords to the various collections. Now that I am through with them, I will miss Dr Watson and the inimitable Sherlock Holmes as companions who walked with me for a short time of my life.
