About this listen

I’ve known every kind of pain. Of the heart. Of the body. Of the soul. All I want now is the freedom that comes from making my art.

The last thing I expected was Hollywood royalty to waltz into my gallery in a small town in the middle of nowhere and see me. A man like Boden Cavanaugh shouldn’t understand me. Shouldn’t be able to soothe my most ragged edges. Even worse, he makes me want the one thing I can’t have. Him. All it takes is one spark, and friendship catches flame. But as our attraction burns bright, there are forces desperate to send us back into the darkness. And they’ve already killed before….

Romance audiobook dream 😌

I seriously enjoyed this book, the intrigue of who could be after them, there are so many suspects to choose from. It felt deeper than others in this series, darker. She cries and takes selfies of her grief. A little weird but having suffered from loss, I guess I get it. THEN….You’ve been shot, buts let’s f*čk! The cheek fluttering is still there. LOL Btw, Boden could give me a bath any time! Haha The ending was fantastic!

So here is the thing, the word masochist was confused for sadist. Little things like that have begun to get to me. Authors, narrators and editors, PLEASE spend the time and money on such things, listeners are customers and consumers, we appreciate it.

Sebastian and Ava, two favorites that give me pure listening joy!

So good

Initially read the ebook but had to listen...
These two characters were rather swoony. Always love a small town romantic suspense.

Beautiful narration and story

At every turn, this series stuns me. Swoony, romantic suspense at it's finest. I loved, no I breathed, every word! Shattered Sea wrecked my heart, but then also healed it. This breath-taking story about overcoming grief and healing through love stole my whole heart.

And truly, it snuck quite up on me. The most unassuming of characters, a lovable secondary character just blossomed so beautifully in this story- becoming my favorite of the series, and perhaps out of all of Catherine's. I knew after crying through most of the prologue, this would be a powerful story, but I had no idea how deeply. Laiken and Boden couldn't seem more different on paper- a somewhat reclusive, heartbroken gallery manager and the Hollywood hottie with some very public drama. But these two share a profound resilience in the face of tragic loss, a loss that not only shatters their hearts but also corrupts and taints the relationships of those that should love them, causing them to bury their pain in regret and secrets.

I loved watching them fall for each other- how tenderly and sweetly they connected, how naturally. Catherine Cowles writes some of the swooniest men in the romance world, and Boden takes the cake. His patience, his thoughtfulness, the meaningful ways he opens up his own heart to make it safe for her. They just click in a powerful way- in part because they both understand tragedy and lost first loves, the solitude of grief. But something sad in them blossoms into something so amazing- because we get to see Laiken living again. And we get to see Boden stop hiding. Together, they pave a path forward, even there is tons of external stuff facing them. And we get so much ensemble time in here- I loved how this little family of folks healing and finding hope in love have banded together. It's charming.

Two broken souls, two shattered hearts, find each other in the most unexpected of ways, in the most healing yet precarious of circumstances. Of course, we have loads of suspense - and this one actually really caught me off guard in the ending with the twist. It’s entertaining, it’s sweet, and it’s really touching through it all. Catherine at her best!

Boden & Laiken

Catherine always writes incredibly romantic stories with characters who experienced hurt and adds a large touch of suspense to it. Boden and Laiken both have some some pain to deal with. They have experienced the loss of a SO in different ways. Laiken has physical pain to remind her daily of her emotional pain. But together they find peace within each other.

The audio was great. Easy to listen and follow along. The narrators really intensified the suspense.

Beautiful Story of Love and Healing

“How about I promise you today? And I’ll do it again tomorrow. And every day until we’re old and gray.” Review: This is book 4 in Catherine's new Tattered and Torn series. I always love the small town romances Catherine writes with the added element of suspense. I am absolutely obsessed with this cover too! We met Laiken in Hidden Waters and there was so much mystery around her so I knew her story was going to be good. Right away the Prologue had me in tears and pulled at my heart strings. I was immediately drawn in and needed to know their story. Both Laiken and Boden have experienced such loss and heartache. I loved the connection and understanding they had for each other. I loved Boden's protectiveness of Laiken and how much he wanted to help her. I swooned at a few moments of him caring for her. I enjoyed the connection Laiken had with Hayes. It felt like visiting old friends when we got little bits of Hayes, Everly, Hadley, Calder, Beckett and Addie, which was so fun. I listened to the audiobook by Ava Erickson (my favorite) and Sebastian York (my 2nd favorite male narrator) and they both did a wonderful job bringing Laiken and Boden to life. I'm really enjoying this series and I can't believe we only have one more book left. Shiloh will finally get to tell her story next month!

Another wonderful story and narration!

Boden and Laiken’s story was an emotional journey. They were both dealing with lost and regrets when they first meet. Laiken was especially a strong heroine as on top of everything else, she was also dealing with chronic and debilitating pain. Together they were able to help each other heal and move on from the past and forge a path forward.

Ava Erickson and Sebastian York’s narration was perfection. It’s always enjoyable to hear these narrators.

Perfection as always!!!

Boden and Laiken are amazing! I can't believe there is only one book left in the series, there needs to be more. The romance, suspended that Catherine writes is flawless!
