About this listen

Everything you know about the gods of Ancient Greece is a lie.

Zeus.
Hades.
Poseidon.
They do not exist as you’ve been told.

For centuries, Persephone, the true Ruler of the Underworld, has watched humanity destroy themselves and the world around them. Known for centuries as her alter ego, Hades, she has guarded the souls under her care, her only interaction outside of her realm as C.E.O. of the largest financial company in the world, Cerberus Financial. She is content with this, except a soul has called to her and her alone for thousands of years. One that she finds herself bound to in more ways than one.

Devon Aideonous was murdered, his killer unknown, his past as a mercenary haunting him in the afterlife. He is sent to the Underworld, but not as a soul meant to live out eternity there. He is something far more powerful, and the more he learns about his new power, the more secrets are uncovered from his past.

This is book one in the Reign of Goddesses series.

Warning: adult content and triggering situations such as PTSD, trauma, thoughts of suicide, filicide (not happening present), and rape (not happening in present).

Fun power dynamic switch

Loved the story, great character building. Loved the side characters as much as the main, author did a great job at world building. I laughed, I cried, I bought the second book already. Excited to see more character introduction and the progression of the storyline. Narrator had a good flow with an understanding of where to put inflection and emotion in her reading.

Greek gods like never before!

This is a new to me author that definitely has my attention now. This was unique, the reimagining of greek gods refreshing. In this book we have Devon and Persephone, and man do the sparks fly!!!!! I loved seeing Devon come into his own and the relationships that develops between the two. I can see myself rereading this :) It was a bit too descriptive at times and that slowed the pace for me. If this type of solid writing is what I can expect from this author then I will keep an eye on the release of her next audiobook.
If you like Greek Mythology and need something new and interesting I highly recommend you pick up a copy.
Savannah Gilmore as narrator was absolutely fantastic, she is Persephone for me

Gender Bent Greek Myths!!

Gender bent retelling of Hades and Persephone? Heck yes!! The blurb instantly got me hooked.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! The originality of it, from how the myths got it wrong, to the characters involved, I loved it! The myths are included, but with a twist because Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades don't exist, but Hera, Amphitrite, and Persephone do. Persephone and Devon have a complicated history and "watching" them overcome their fears and growing as characters was positively delightful! They each have such heart, but neither of them wear it on their sleeves and sometimes need to be reminded that they are "people" too. Getting introduced to Hera and Amphitrite was fun and I look forward to their stories (I hope Devon can get some revenge on Hera for some of her antics!). The story flowed together well, and I liked the mystery unfolding.
This book sets up for the next one in the series and I am here for it! Because I really don't want the Titians to win!

I enjoyed the narrator! I'd listen to another book by her. She did have some of the same voices for other characters and it usually sounded a bit whispered/raspy and it wasn't bad, just not to my liking.

So good!

I had no idea what I was getting into with this book and I loved every minute of it! Persephone being the ruler of the underworld was a fabulous way to tell this tale! Thanatos was hilarious! I hope we see more of him in the rest of the series.
