About this listen

One family brings its own brand of justice to the streets of Chicago's shadowy underworld as number one New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan returns to a series hot enough to burn....

The paparazzi can't get enough of infamous bad boy Giovanni Ferraro. But unknown to them - and the women he beds - he's just playing a role. Keeping the spotlight on himself keeps it off the family business. And if this lethal shadow rider can't hunt in the dark, he'll find his pleasure elsewhere....

Sasha Provis grew up on a Wyoming ranch and thought she knew how to protect herself from predators. But in the nightclub where she works, she's fair game - until one of the owners steps in to protect her. Giovanni is gorgeous. He's dangerous. And his every touch takes her breath away. The devil at her heels may have finally met its match....

Good story- doesn't reach its full potential

I'm a huge fan of this series but was a little disappointed at first. The Ferraro brothers all seem to display the same characteristics. in other Feehan series the males show more variety.

After a slow start, the female lead and what develops into an interesting story line ultimately make this book into a good story.

Possible future interesting plot twists - a growing friendship or at least some friendly interest by the Ferraro Mother in Sasha brother and that lost Rider family. Maybe the Mother's character won't be quite so black and white.

Also, this close-knit community is somewhat ignored in this story. Either delve into interesting aspects of the community or take us somewhere interesting again, such as Japan.

Still a book worthy of the reader's time.

like the series

I like the books but this one has too many sex scenes. like half the book I had to fast forward because it gets in the way of the story.

Exciting setup

Jim Frangione always reads to books with emotion and diction. The author setup the story so well. The plot carried well throughout the book. But, like an end of an ice cone, there is a little disappointment that is over.

This Heroine was a breath of fresh air!

I’m a 50 year old woman, so I totally get how popular culture has affected women’s self image. However, the Heroines of the first two books were ridiculous. I really got sick of them questioning how their man could really desire them. I was so glad the author changed that theme, in this book. The Heroine did have some self doubt, but it was more at a human level, rather than , “an emotional abuse victim” level.
The plot followed the same path as the previous two books, except the villain wasn’t the obvious person for an obvious reason. Actually, I think the author was trying so hard to make this plot different from book one and two, that the conflict and resolution was pretty slim. If the descriptive violence in the two previous books was a bit too much for your taste, you’ll be happy to know that there is very little violence, in book three.
Some reviewers criticized the slow burn between the H/h in book two, this book is a complete opposite. This couple got hot and heavy quickly.

My biggest complaint about this series is the lack of continuity between the books. I know that this must be difficult for an author that’s writes as many books and series as CF. Therefore, I think she needs to reconsider her choice of Beta readers and editors. Here’s an example of what I mean. In book one, the Heroine, Francesca, decides to quit her job at the deli because she is in danger and does not want to bring that danger to the owners of the deli. She also doesn’t want the reporters that are dogging her heals, to disrupt the business of her friends’ deli. In book two, she is working at the deli again and statements are made that she didn’t allow her husband to pressure her into quitting her job. In book three, the story goes back to the book one version. There is a family discussion in which Francesca is referred to as a “push over” because she gave in and quit her job and did the volunteer work her husband preferred she do. Now it’s likely that most readers/listeners wouldn’t notice or even care about such inconsistencies. However, my type A, neurotic personality get extremely irritated about incorrect details.

Finally, as always, Jim Frangione’s narration was brilliant and I’ve always enjoyed his vocal interpretations.

Christine Feehan Rocks

There are authors who just can’t write anything bad and Christine Feehan is one of them. I’ll buy any book in any series she writes. Shadow Keeper has just the right blend of erotica, paranormal and suspense I love in Christine’s books. Highly recommend!

His shadow tube can enmesh mine any time

Giovanni meets his match in Sasha. The action and intrigue that pulls these two as well as the rest Ferraro family into new a mystery kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing. The heat factor as they grow closer is beyond steamy. Jim Frangione has become the voice I hear for this amazing series.
