Acerca de esta escucha

Rachel and Joel Matthews lived next door to Chris and Scott Wilson. Not only were the four best friends, but they were also preppers, believing that they needed to be prepared for the troubled times they firmly believed were coming. Although they dearly wished they could afford to purchase some kind of “bug-out” location, none of them had that kind of money. In spite of their prepping, the four led simple, normal lives. Rachel was a deli supervisor, Joel an electrician, Scott a chef, and Chris worked in a big-box store. Rachel and Chris were also both avid quilters, and Rachel harbored a dream that someday, she would be able to quit the deli and open a quilter’s retreat.

After purchasing a lucky winning lottery ticket, the four friends were able to purchase property to use not only as a quilters’ retreat, but also as a recreational ranch that doubled as a safe place to go in time of trouble. Little did they know that they purchased the property in the nick of time, as trouble was rapidly approaching.

As they gathered friends and family together for a practice run before opening Serendipity Ranch to the public, a crisis was developing that would instantly change everything about the world in which they lived–and survival was not guaranteed.

Was all of their prepping enough? Would they manage to survive the crisis? Would they and their families and friends be safe from all of the evil let loose in the world by this sudden catastrophe?

Even though most of us will never win the lottery and be able to make such extensive preparations, there was plenty of food for thought. Enjoyed reading of planning rather than just reading about dealing with aftermath of a catastrophe. Hope more authors will produce the same.

Great Prepping Ideas

I liked the whole scenario. Good people that care about others and share their blessings.

Nice, normal people.

I am not a lib, but using the anti liberal bias to justify owning guns and prepper supplies made the first couple of chapters a tough slog.

Excellent story without swearing and gratuitous violence. Fun quilt references. Wonderful narration by Christopher Lane.

I absolutely loved this story! It was an answer to a dream. I love the storyline and loved the characters. Nothing makes a woman feel better than being able to spend as much as she wants on what she wants. This book was so much fun for a prepping type story!

Just right

Serendipity Ranch and the Quilters of the Apocalypse
Enjoyable read/ listen. This book is reminiscent of another author of whom I have read a lot of; in fact, I think that I have read all of his books; Dianne even uses the same narrator. Hmm I’m just saying, it’s a little suspicious to me. I have not read any of her other books but they seem to both have very similar writing styles.
Anyway, this book is an easy read for quilters/sewers that enjoy reading survival type books. In a post devastated world you know what can happen because mankind easily can turn evil but that doesn’t really happen until like the last quarter of the book; the first two thirds of the book is spent preparing both before and after. Overall a good read.

Easy read

Yeah, I know. I should have known with the title but I tried anyway. I'm sorry. I'm not going to make it very far in this book. It's so childishly written and drenched in tag line propaganda that it's not worth it. There is a running theme of listing things. They sit around and list all the things they want in the combination quilting/hunting/prepping/bugout/animal hospital?/whatever else her fantasy could include - ranch. They have meetings where they sit around and list out everything that could go wrong and everything they need to do...constantly. The entire book is a compilation of lists. "We need this, that, this, that and this. We will do this and then this and then this. You will do this and then this and then this. There are a handful of action words and then another list. It's exhaustingly immature.

They're opening a freaking guest ranch a couple of days before a freaking meteorite is scheduled to hit. They're having a watch party and have invited all of their quilting friends? I can't with this book... oh my gosh. NO.

Oh dear word... No.
