Acerca de esta escucha
The fan-favorite star of Netflix’s hit reality series Selling Sunset recalls her life in and out of the spotlight, an inspiring and surprising chronicle of adversity, tragedy, trauma, and success.
In the streaming reality series Selling Sunset, Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet is the charismatic, calm, and level-headed agent who effortlessly lands multi-million-dollar homes while sidestepping the drama of a cutthroat business in one of the wealthiest and most glamorous places in the world. Often thought of as the “big sister” of her co-stars for her compassionate advice and uplifting attitude, Mary is admired for her unwavering kindness. But behind her sunny personality is a remarkable story of resilience, forged by a life filled with profound challenges.
In Selling Sunshine, Mary candidly reveals the most grueling and darkest moments of her personal journey. Becoming a mother at sixteen, she was forced to rely on her own resolve and tenacity, juggling multiple jobs while attending school and caring for her son. With vulnerability and grace, Mary reflects on how her crash-course in adulthood not only changed her, but prepared her for the trials to come, including two painful divorces and toxic relationships. Despite the pain, she kept moving forward even in the aftermath of terrifying trauma.
Yet no matter how many obstacles she faced, Mary refused to let the darkness extinguish her light. It was that same strength and determination that eventually carried her to the top of her field and helped her cope with unexpected fame. Talking about her experience on Selling Sunset, she offers a rare glimpse at cast dynamics and the drama behind the scenes, and reveals the lessons she’s learned—from staying true to yourself to projecting positivity by supporting colleagues. Unfiltered and genuine, Mary’s story will inspire listeners to overcome life’s obstacles, and discover the power of finding their own sunshine.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

You can’t truly understand the last decade of the 20th century without a look at the muddy, electrifying rock music that would come to define it: grunge. For such a short-lived genre—at least in the mainstream—grunge had a lasting impact on American music and culture. It also provides a unique lens through which to examine the post-Reagan, pre-internet America of the 1990s. In the six lectures of The Story of Grunge, you’ll explore the rise and evolution of the genre, tracing it from Seattle subculture to MTV and the Billboard charts, all the way to its decline and evolution into new forms.

He would spend the rest of his legendary career defying that statement by celebrating the people most reporters overlooked, understanding that it was through these minor characters that the epic story of New York and America unfolded. Inspired by Herman Melville’s great short story “Bartleby, the Scrivener,” Talese now revisits the unforgettable “nobodies” he has profiled in his celebrated career—from the New York Times’s anonymous obituary writer to Frank Sinatra’s entourage.

Yet the truth is more complicated. As a self-described “not white, mostly Black, and questionably Asian man,” Chin-Quee knows that he doesn’t fit easily into any category. Very Sincere
Tells it like it is/was and is so sincere. Captures her own story in a touching way.

Absolutely amazing
A very optimistic and candid story, honestly, just downright inspiring. I wish I had Mary's resilience. Thank you for sharing your story, it made my own similar experiences feel less dramatic and it helps knowing we are never alone in our grief. 5 stars.

Genuine, real, and unexpected! Love this!!!!
Mary’s story is raw, honest, and such an incredible show of how someone can come from a challenging position multiple times in life and show up triumphant. There is also some Selling Sunset stories in there that are so interesting to hear for any super fan.
I cried, laughed, smiled, and loved the whole thing, binged listened to her book in 24 hours.
I will also mention too, Mary’s speaking voice in this audio book is lovely and she is a pleasure to listen to.
Definitely a memorable memoir and I am rooting for her! Love this work she did and can’t wait to continue to watch her succeed.
