A perfect how to guide for the neurodiverse & more.

This book is an excellent how to guide for those who are or know someone who is neurodiverse.

It can be extremely helpful for the person who discovers their neurodivergents in adulthood.

Awareness- Inclusive - Informative - Relevant - Relatable

I am a late diagnosed autistic with adhd. This book is a treasure for me and my spouse. Well into my fifties, my new understanding of my experience has changed my coping mechanisms significantly. This book allows me to gain clear insights into taking a personal inventory, become curious about what works, and respond to the world around me in a way that is supportive. I no longer feel completely isolated and this book has helped me understand myself more deeply.

Overall very helpful

I disagree with a lot of the parts about identity, but the book is still very useful for managing every day problems.

Invaluable

A great intro to how to manage life and be well as an autistic person. The world may not be built for us, but we can find so many ways to thrive by using our wiring for good

Really helpful, especially for recently (late-)diagnosed adults

My psychologist recommended this book to me shortly after diagnosis.

This is a good primer to autism for those new to their diagnosis, and a good companion to self-care I didn’t know I was already doing and could improve. An easy listen though listeners should be aware they’ll likely want to take notes so listening while driving or otherwise doing activities that can’t be readily stopped could be tough

Inclusive, respectful, and accessible.

Dr. Neff's book goes broad and deep. It's inclusive of a variety of experiences, while respectful of the multilayered complexity of any individual's experience.

I first read the Audible edition, and found it very accessible in audio form: not too list-y or diagram-filled to follow and absorb.

Nevertheless, I decided I wanted to have it on paper, also, to refer to and flip through. So I bought the hardcover edition. It's well-organized so it's easy to use as a handy reference, and small enough to keep on hand, in an emergency kit, say, so, double-handy!

The most important type of healthcare is self-care!

I think this book would be most helpful for autistic people and helping them figure out how to take care of themselves. I think it gives a lot of interesting insights to consider. I don’t necessarily agree with everything that is mentioned, and I am autistic. However, it is wonderful to see an autistic psychologist talk about her experiences and give some perspective about what things can be helpful for autistic people for their mental health. Awesome book. Thank you Dr. Megan Anna Neff for taking the time to write this book! Have a fantastic day!
