About this listen

Louisa Robertson’s father is furious when he finds her acting on stage. Now, she’s being shipped off to America to marry some stranger her father thinks will bring out the “lady” in her. Luckily, Louisa’s maid agrees to switch places with her! Her maid will marry the American and get the wealthy lifestyle she’s always wanted, and Louisa can do whatever she damn well pleases - for the first time in her life.

Highlander Ian Sinclair needs an army commission, and the only way he can get one is to safely deliver the general’s daughter-from-Hell to her intended in America. Easy, right? It would be if the lady’s companion Louisa didn’t wear breeches and do everything the exact opposite of what he orders. It’ll be a miracle if the sparks flying between Ian and Louisa don’t set the bloody ship afire before they arrive in America.

But just when Louisa thinks her plan is going to give her the acting career she wants and a Highlander to boot...Ian discovers her secret.

Each book in The Highlanders of Balforss series is stand-alone.

Narrated on par with the sublime story!

I loved the fast pace of this tale that, despite the premise of trading places with the maid, still felt believable. I expected some of the curves, but the cunning writing mixed one scene to the next so seamlessly I found myself swept away in the tale without considering how the story unfolded until it was at the end. I found myself satisfied but would have loved even more of this wonderful story.

Saving the Scot

A wonderful collaboration between a great author and a gifted narrator! This is book 4 of this series by Jennifer Trethewey with audio provided by Ruth Urquhart for the audiobook. Quick tempered but inquisitive girl meets rather straight laced, ordered, Ian. I love this series and think you will too.😍

Favorite of the bunch!

This installment has a good balance of power in the relationships, and is just the right amount sweet-vs-funny. I'm a fan of the characters, definitely worth a listen.

liked it

this is my 2nd favorite of the 4. Magnus was my absolute favorite of the men. I did love Louisa's character more than the other ladies. Very good series overall though.

Good story

Ok the narrator needs work on her Scottish accent but the times she says “ Je…Sus” has me cracking up every single time.
