Book 2

I am enjoying this 2nd book in the Danny Canterbury Tales. I shared the audio books with my young nephew and he is also enjoying the story. Good narration, easy to follow the story.

I liked the first book after I got into it.This one started out ok but just got so boring.Narration by Amy Du Quesne was SO SLOW,that I set the timing to 1,25.It helped ,but not enough. I was given this book by the narrator,author or publisher free for an honest review.

Good

Another good Danny Canterbury tale, that was really good. Had interesting characters that you liked and it had a good plot. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy the audio version or the eBook.

children coming of age

I did not care for the narrator at all. She enunciates the wrong words. This book is a 2nd in series. I did not read the first. I was confused most of the book, I think because of not reading the first. The outcome sorted a little of the confusion.

Good listen.

This is a good listen. I like the characters and the story. The narrator did a good job but would love if she was just a little bit faster pace. All in all a good story.

Book 2

I enjoyed the book, I wish it focused more on the “mystery”. It started out really great, then seemed to focus manly on day to day life of teenagers. All in all it was interesting. The narration was well done, I enjoyed the production and quality of it. This series is definitely aimed at a younger audience. Would be great for teens and young adults.

Saffelia Forrest and the Snowfall Grove

A very intriguing read. And a great addition to the series. This read is a real page turner. That has you on the edge of your seat. The World building is very well done. Its like as you listen you can she the scenes in your minds eye. There is never a dull moment. There are twist and turns I didnt see coming. The Narrator brings out the Characters and voices great and does a Fantastic job at it. I definitely recommend this read.

Better than the last, narration could be better

Story 3.5, narrator 2. I read the first book and I like this one better. Likely due to the foundation of the first book as I would imagine someone jumping in at this book would be very confused. While some of the issues in the last book were pulled off better here ~ I feel like it still suffers significantly from random happenings that are never resolved &/or distract from the overall arc, lulls in action that become boring (exacerbated by the narrator) and the ending is tied up with a monologue by the "bad guy". Pretty similar to what happened in the last book. I did appreciate that, unlike Chardelia, we actually get to know Saffelia much better.

I enjoy the bits of humor and banter between Danny, Amanita, & Timothy. I liked that Danny had a friendship with Saffelia outside of her relationship with Timothy. Overall, I do find myself looking forward to more adventures with these characters.

I have several problems with the narrator: she is soooooo slow. There were parts of the book that I set on 2x speed just to tolerate. She also had odd places where she emphasized words or phrases that didn't make sense. I also felt that since 80-90% of the book is from Danny's POV ~ a male narrator would have been more appropriate.

Did the story keep me engaged: no - i kept loosing interest with the descriptive's
Was there anything I found annoying: the narrator wasn't for me
Would I listen to it again: probably not

Audible has this tagged as Kids > Ages 8-10 - i'm not sure an 8-10 year old could maintain interest in a book that runs for 15 hours.

There's interesting characters and a good plot in there somewhere, but I feel this book could benefit from some seriously hard editing, it felt like there were too many excessive descriptive's and parts that didn't really have direction or benefit the main story line, it just felt a too long and (for me) the narrator didn't add to the audio experience.

This book is written almost as beautiful poetry and that artistry is missed when listening to it in audiobook format. I really wanted to like this curious story but found it very hard to listen too. The book was really all over the place which made it somewhat confusing, could be it needs further editing.

This story is written for a younger audience perhaps the young adult category. It takes place on a teenage camping trip in the mysterious Snowfall Grove. The youngsters or teenagers (they certainly act like both) uncover mysteries and secrets of the teachers of Plunket School. This is a coming of age story with mystery and a little bit of suspense.

As an audiobook listener I just couldn't get into the story, or fully understand what exactly was occurring at times. I rewound this audiobook so many times! The dialogue in the book implied a much younger person than what the actual age these children were supposed to be. I was left confused most of the time as to what exactly was going on. Don't get me wrong this may be another persons cup of tea if you enjoy young adult narrative poetry.

The narrator was hard to understand at times, the wispy voice did not match the story being told. The narrators voice kept lulling me to sleep instead of keeping me interested in the story. I had to speed up the narration speed, and that still did not help. I believe this is a make or break circumstance with the narrator.
