About this listen

Stumbling over a dead body is one hell of a way to start a vacation....

While growing up, Hawk was always the wild card, the one who couldn't sit still or find a place to belong. Becoming a SEAL gave him a niche and a purpose in the world like no other. Nevertheless, the wild man remains under the surface, waiting for the match to his flame. Ending up back home for a few days' R&R, Hawk notices a new, darker element has moved in next door - and, at least in part, it appears to involve a freckle-faced redhead from his past, the girl he never forgot.

Mia remembers her best friend's brother from her childhood only too well. What girl in her right mind could forget Hawk? As a boy, he'd been 24-7 fireworks, lighting up her life. Every encounter with him took her breath away and made her heart beat too fast. But Hawk, the man, home for a holiday, is harder, dangerous - and impossibly sexier than he'd been when she was just a star-struck kid longing to catch his eye.

Even as Mia is swept off her feet by her teenage-crush-turned-grownup-acute feelings for him, the town is hit by unprecedented violence…and Mia's smack-dab in the middle of the explosion.

Great Story but...

Hawk is the 2nd listen in the Seals of Honor series. Having just finishing the 1st listen, Mason. I purchased Hawk without considering I wouldn't enjoy as much as the first. Don't get me wrong I loved the Seals story written by Dale Mayer.

What I did not enjoy was the narration by Daniel Henning. And It is not often that I write a negative word about a narrator, really I may have only done twice before.

Selecting the right narrator to tell a story is so very important. Mr. Henning was not the right narrator for Hawk (maybe it's just me?). He was too monotone. Expressed little emotion & failed to inflect a variance between characters. I tried unsuccessfully to change the "tone" by speeding up and or slowing the pace of the listen.

I've already purchased the next listen in the series. I am thankful that book 3, Dane has a different narrator. Looking forward to seeing if Dane will keep her 😉😁😉😁

PS. Forgot to mention a couple of favorite parts about Hawks story. I ❤❤❤❤❤ that a great deal of the action takes place in my home towns of San Francisco & Oakland. #mycitymytown .

The 2nd thing that makes me all gooey inside is the whole "Are you going to keep her?" line throughout each book. Swoon 😍😍😍😍😍

Great story and characters

Awful narration, terrible inflection and no personality. All the characters had exactly the same tone. Was painful to listen to
